Did you forget Jack? I mean you could see that he's been improving all year and now he's ready to just break loose - gerbe75pts
I love jack... but I have said it for almost two years now, McDavid will be the greatest player of the modern day nhl. 2000s+. Tim Murray's face said it all when we lost the lotto. I know a lot of sabres fans say we got the best player and all that crap but they are just lying to themselves. Mcdavid is in a league of his own and if he can stay healthy throughout his career he will go down as one of the best ever |

I didn't forget. McDavid is better and is under a better coach, who didn't need 50 games to figure out his linemates, even when the average fan knew better. |

How was OJ Simpson not guilty I'm watching the first episode if all of this is true this is mind blowing - gerbe75pts
Simply put, the cops (frank)ed up the chain of evidence. There were times where it was left completely unattended in public among many, many other mistakes with collection and processing. When I took Forensic Science in college we used that case as a case study in what not to do. The glove thing was a colossal (frank)up by the prosecution too, the gloves were stiff from being basically soaked in blood and he was wearing gloves underneath them when he put them on in court. Of (frank)ing course they won't fit! Plus, he had a poop ton of money and could afford the best lawyers, plus he was a beloved sports star. He wasn't black, he wasn't white, he was OJ. |

mehhh. That's debatable. Bottom line is Bylsma has a cup and McLellan doesn't. He couldn't get over the hump with an insanely talented Sharks team. I'm not saying he's not a good coach, but to say he's better than Bylsma is a stretch.

So do Caralyle and Tortorella. It's not like Bylsma came in and took the pens from 0 to 100. They were cup finalists the year before and he inherited 2 of the best players in the game (at that point may have even been 1-2). Sure Fleury let them down at points but i think the horrid conf finals against boston was the final nail in the coffin. That much talent and they put up what like 3 goals that entire series?
Even if we don't consider the past, Bylsma has done a lot of things this year that kinda just leave you scratching your head. |

I don't like this coach. Hanging on to a one goal lead for a whole period, Ugh. Reminds me of Lindy. During preseason it looked like it was going to be high scoring team with all those shorthanded goals and they are terrible.

That last game (3rd period) was just awful. It looked like last years team which is particularly alarming given who we've added between then and now. |

Bylsma couldn't do anything in the playoffs with Sidney Crosby or Malkin I don't care if he has a cup he basically didn't win in my opinion that year ..
was horrible for the Olympics too |

And three of our top scorers from last year fell off the map. A blah coach.

They both will be 1 and 2 for the rest of their careers in scoring it's going to be head to head like it was Crosby vs Ovechkin

Jack with two goals, an empty net waiting, and he keeps him off the ice at the end.

I think it really depends on how we finish the year. If eichel continues his rapid improvement, reinhart comes back and continues to improve and lehner shows throughout the rest of the season that he is the real deal all while finishing with a top 5 pick it could happen.
Maybe wins and losses dont meant as much to a FA under certain circumstances. They have already lost 14 games by 1 goal, i think 3 of those are shootout losses. That isnt taking into account games they have lost by 2 because of an empty net goal.
I think they could see that and understand what a difference one or two players could make. Especially if they land a big fish early in FA, that would change the game.
Winning half of those 1 goal losses would have them in a playoff spot right now. - ieetbred
That's why I say we're prob a year away
After next season, we should have the wins to go along with all our "promise"
Then UFAs should really take notice
I'm sure we'd be more desirable than teams like the Leafs, Philly, etc
But there still too many perennial playoff teams that are more desirable than a team still picking bottom 5
Not that it couldn't happen, it just doesn't seem very likely that a top UFA would come here this offseason

With the talent we have, easily, but the only problem is we'd allow 5, so it's kind of counterproductive. |

Except win a Stanley Cup. Let's say it was all Michel Therrien, what has he done since? Not a goddamn thing. His team consists of one player and when that player gets hurt they are literally the worst team in the league. Are we going to take away Hitch's Cup because of Brett Hull? Are we going to take away Q's when he won during the lockout shortened season? No, that would be stupid. He(Bylsma) has a Stanley Cup to his name. Period. I'm not saying he's a fantastic coach because of that either. I'm just saying that saying that McLellan is a better coach is a stretch.
As far as the Olympics: 2010 they were an afterthought, but Ryan Miller in the midst of a Vezina trophy season took the team to the gold medal game. And the Bylsma coached team in 2014 had high expectations because of 2010 and people thought Quick was the second coming and the roster was basically the same, but Quick was very average, and yet they still went to the bronze medal game, so again, horrible is a bit of a stretch.
I don't even like the mother(frank)er, but the hate for him on this board is frankly baffling. |

You can't even argue with me about penguins they had so much god damn talent and he couldn't do anything with it the two best players in the game , top ten defenseman and probably the best shutdown Center in the game at that time Jordan s let's not forget they had James n
he couldn't do poop with a loaded roster and no I'm not going to give him credit for winning the cup if you don't forget Pittsburgh was in the Cup the year before
And don't get me started on the Olympics he had no idea how to do line combinations and the fact that the team gave up on bronze medal game showed me how much they care about their coach |
