i am proud that after a few years of me and a few others (probably you) harping on people about the use of cement in that situation that she said concrete.. - IndianaSabresFan
I gave up long ago correcting "cement" and "dirt". It's kind of annoying though, I'll give you that. |

The fact that they won sucked but it happens. Yeah, that team should have been better by now but that was more the old regime not doing the other necessary acts such as getting a solid defensive corps. They took Nurse instead of Risto and I don't know much about Nurse but from what I hear he's coming around but Risto has developed better.
Also, being a small market in Alberta that hasn't been good lately can't be easy to draw big name free agents and probably doesn't help drawing the mid-level ones either. They should have been better and it sucked that they won the lottery, I just know there's more behind it. - Zschalberg
I'm not sounding any conspiracy alarms. I'm just saying with or without being able to get top-notch UFA's, and with or without having decent management, Edmonton should not be where they are this year. Hall, RNH, Yak, Nurse, Leon, Eber, and McDavid should have this team in playoff contention with or without decent coaches, these players are that good. My opinion, which of course may seem bias, is that Edmonton has had enough high-end draft picks and they should sink or swim with what they have. Sending another 1st overall to them at the end of this year is just ridiculous. And, yes, I also feel that after this year, the 3rd year in a row of the Sabres being near or at last place in the standings, they too should have no business being at the bottom of the league come next season. |

Well, playing on a low scoring team as a 21 year old defenseman playing against top talent, I'd have to say he's doing pretty damn fine. - TheSabresTaco
I absolutely agree. He's certainly not the team's issue. At all. He's averaging 25+ minutes a night as well.
BTW, this new NHL.com is on my poop list. If you search a player now and try to look at their "splits" it's awful. It doesn't give you anywhere near the amount of information as it used to, ya know, like average ice time. |

He'll appeal, I think he'll miss 10 games. But good for the league to go for the 20. Could have been longer imo. I know they'll stick to the story of him not knowing where he was but easily could have hurt the official. |

He scores goals. Use him for overtime since he's great at 3-on-3 |

That's such a BS excuse. For all he knew, it could have been his own player. He just hit someone, anyone.
Even if your vision was dangerously blurry, you can still see the black stripes. And even if you're not looking, which he absolutely was just by where he cross checked the ref, why the (frank) would you blindly hit someone, not knowing who they are. Wideman's a (frank)ing numb skull here. Just admit you were mad he didn't make a call on a previous hit. |

If I can't go to the actual page of the sport the player plays for, it's a problem. All the information used to be right there.
It's also ridiculous that on the first night since they changed their gamecenter product as well, that it didn't work. They dropped the ball MAJORLY. But, we shouldn't expect anything different from them at this point. This is typical. |

Well, I will say that if the concussion was bad enough he might not have even known what was going on and it would have been instinct. Saw someone in front of him, knew he had to go that way, pushed him, and kept going where he needed to go. The thought of teammate, opposing player, or ref wouldn't even be in the mind and the colors wouldn't mean anything.
That said, I don't think that's what it was. I think he was mad about the hit he took and the no call, frustrated at the refs, and hit the one that he was near. I say keep it at 20 games. |

Honestly, yahoo offers that same basic information. Splits and the sort. That's my usual go to for basics.
war-on-ice and ownthepuck are excellent resources for advanced stats, advanced splits and such.
I agree that NHL.com has and is a problem. |

I think he saw a person, and went for them, not realizing until pretty much too late that it was an official. I basically buy half his story, the part where he says he's dazed. But I think he fully intended to hit someone, but unfortunately it was an official instead of a player. I don't believe his intent was to hit an official though. |

Based on his record, there's a chance you're right. It's just a hard sell. You can see black pants. You can see a striped shirt. Dazed or not, looking up or down. It's baloney. |

You don't know that for sure because everyone's body reacts different. What he saw and what his brain processed don't necessarily match.

I don't know it for sure. You're right. It's just a hard sell to me. You gotta think Wideman was able to plead his case prior to his sentence. And those derps weren't impressed. |

He also saw the back of a jersey. Which is also an illegal check from behind.
He can make all the excuses he wants. All the evidence is against him. |

Finally got around to watching the AllStar game.
Pretty awesome.
That one goal by Scott was REALLY nice!
And how awesome were the fans in Nashville?
Plus the way his teammates rallied around him & gave him support was great too.
I can't imagine a way that could've gone better.
So cool.
And happy for a great guy.
Scott used to come in to a restaurant I bartended at with some other Sabres.
Never had a bad experience with him.
All great guys by the way.
Except Ville Leino. HUGE DOUCHE! Absolute scumbag |

Those derps don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to this stuff though either.
None of what they decide makes much sense to me to be quite honest. |

This is my view also.
With that said, I don't think it matters, he needs to be suspended, although I think 20 is too heavy. |
