Defense looks bad, because he makes them look bad. - ImThatGuy
Well it was a bit of both on that play. 95% of that play was his skill. He burned the defense, put the puck where it needed to be, held onto it, and deked through a phone booth to get the goal.
The defense, however, looked as though they had no idea what to do and were taken aback by this kid coming down on them.
Not discrediting his goal at all, because it was really awesome. Especially being his first game back. I saw it and I got mad because it wasn't fair. He's gonna be special.
I have a different perspective on that McDavid goal last night. Yes, he's a rare talent, and is great for the NHL, but that weak a$$ed forearm that Johnson threw at him is puzzling. It's almost as though Johnson realized last minute that it was McDavid, and gave him a pass. I hope that he doesn't get Gretzky treatment, where he's untouchable. Bogo would have cleaned him out!!!!

The defense was worse than the play was good by McDavid IMO. - BuffaloHardHat
I dunno man
It takes a certain explosiveness to make that happen.
And Connors ability to control and corral the puck at those top speeds with no space is what's truly remarkable
He made them look like fools as much as they made a mistake
It's the Connor show for now cause of a triumphant return. But he'll have a few quiet nights and people will come back to earth.
There's zero doubt he's a special player, but saying jack isn't as well would be silly.
18 in 16 games and 20 in 20 I think?? Unreal
We spoke of this before that top end speed is comparable, but there are a few things that Connor possesses that jack doesn't. But that shot of jacks is head and shoulders better than Connors.
As far as standings, I'm leaning that way for sure. But the oilers desperate need a healthy klefbom and 1 more top 4 guy. - HB77

Or Bogo would have tried wiffed and he does the same thing to us.
I don't understand why Sabres fans are downplaying this. Is it because we have Jack and we cant give him credit?

Not to mention after getting the puck after splitting the D had the confidence, calmness, and ability to stick handle the goalie the way he did.

Garfs bolg has 2 vids of it. 2 different camera angles. One looks like an amazing goal and the other looks like that was easy.
All i can think about is the movie with Charlie Sheen when he kidnaps the blonde, helicopters chasing them. Thats Johnny Manziel, with him doing the money sign out the window.

You may have a certain color glasses on which I understand.
The defense on that play was Bush league from start to finish, IMO.

While I could say the haterade runs deep with you
But Resorting to that does nothing to further our points
My point is that he almost did something similar 20 seconds into his first shift, but Ryan Murray tripped him to save a breakaway.
you're not understanding his talent level.
He's so incredibly explosive and talented in tight spaces that you're gonna be saying;
"The defence there was bush league" many many times throughout his career
If you can get anything for Chad Johnson, even if it is something like a 6th round pick, take it and don't look back.
Make the pick and hope a diamond is the result.
I don't know how many have seen the movie the Rookie, but I think a movie about John Scott's journey could have the same effect. - kingcong39
I wouldn't mind trading chad but I don't feel it's needed. If we keep him for next year I think he's shown he can be a serviceable backup. That could be more valuable to me than a 6th.
