To get my two cents in..

I dont think the sabres and oilers are all that comparable. Maybe in two or 3 years it can be and it defenitely has potential to turn into that. Since drafting ristolainen, with only 1 potential first overall(this year) we hope/expect to be on the upswing in the same amount of years as they have 1st overall picks.

Regardless of what your opinion on the defense against mcdavid's goal last night was, it was his explosive skating and stickhandling ability that stood out. He curled and dragged the puck forward as he split the D with one hand, at top speed. Then made about 5 or 6 quick stick handles making the goalie bite, stopped on a dime and buried it. I expect alot more of this as his career unfolds. To me this one of the biggest differences between mcdavid and eichel. Eichel has elite speed. Mcdavid can do anything in his arsenal at elite speed.

I would take mcdavid to start my franchise 100/100 times. You are probably fired right after the pick if you dont.

Obviously murray has to be 'elated' with kane. Hes gone out on a limb to profess his love before, not sure i completely buy it though. Personally i think he has been good this year, not great and not the problem. If he would bury some of these breakaways i would look alot smarter

O'Reilly hasn't been good for the last couple of weeks. Maybe he's tiring, but the points are down, he's losing a lot more draws and his defense has been the worst of everything. Hopefully just a lull??
