Doesn't mean hockey isn't his priority though. There's plenty of guys that know how to let loose outside of the rink and are phenomenal players still. What they do in their personal time is just that, personal. I really don't give a rats ass.

I agree but the gap between jack and auston is very slim - yen6d1
I feel like people are looking at this wrong though. It's like because Matthews is touted as being very close to equal, that means Jack isn't that good. And I don't think that's really how it should be taken.

I take it as Matthews is going to be a very good player. There was a lot of talk that if Matthews was 3 days older the choice at number two would have been difficult.
That is why I am so against trading the #1 pick if you get it.

Matthews is great. - ImThatGuy
I agree. It just seems that there's some around here that are making it into a negative against Eichel, and it shouldn't be.

Couldn't agree more. It should be a complement of how elite they/ USA hockey both are.
Or maybe you've read everything that all the scouts did, too, that tells us what the kids mental make up is like, and why he is a natural, and a hard-worker in addition to being a natural, and a leader, and humble, and all the other stuff that goes into making a strong bet and reasons to answer those questions "yes" as you did. - Der Kaiser

I think that has more to do with the fact that he's been getting limited ice time and the easier matchups. He's not out there against the other teams top line like Risto has been all season. - HonkFortheGoose
Even when the man is playing really well he still never gets the credit he deserves.
Weber has played really really well this season, I don't know why it's so hard for some of you to just say that.
Instead there always seems to be a caveat with him when he is without a doubt playing so well with some here.
At least I am always objective.
Even as much as I disliked Myers because I thought he could have been so much more with a bit more "edge" to his game, I still gave him props when he deserved them.
But hey, like I always say, we are all different and for that GOD himself knows how thankful I am for that!!!

No such thing.
I wish I had more time in the day to read. Whether it's more books (preferably) or even just news articles. I feel like I don't get to read as much as I'd like.

I'm not trying to discredit what he's done. I think he's perfectly capable as a bottom pair guy in limited minutes. I just have a really hard time singing his praises when he still manages to do silly things like he did with those 20ish seconds left in the Ottawa game before the All Star break. That's where I have an issue with him.
He's a great guy. He's a hard worker. He's well respected by his teammates. I have a lot of respect for him, but I'm not going to sit here and say he HAS to be in the lineup each night when there are other guys on the team probably more capable to be in that spot than he is.

I haven't noticed this to be the case ...
Also, God isn't real. And neither are the other 3000 gods that desperate people around the world worship

still get the newspaper and do plenty of reading on line, but haven't been able to sit down with a book in a while

The only time I generally get to read a book anymore is when I'm on vacation. I'll take my tablet with me when I go to Cancun next month and will probably get through 2 books or so while I'm sitting around the pool relaxing. My vacation in July usually allows me to get through 3 or 4, depending.

Well said
As hockey fans, it's normal to appreciate hard nosed low talent guys like weber/gryba etc
They're 3rd pairing plugs at best, but will Always give an honest effort. Gotta respect that.
Unfortunately their time usually runs out and they can be detrimental to a squad.
