Is anybody else really want Buff sign and stay in Winn.

this was posted the other day. Trade market rankings Staal and hamonic would be big but it feels like Carolina might not trade staal and harmonic is off season.

Of the guys that could be dealt the only one that would keep me up at night is Buff and since we are not a player for him I would really like him to resign. all the other guys are OK but nothing to lose sleep over.

PLAYER POS AGE CAP HIT GP P PAST 2015-16

Thanks so much JJ and everyone else for the info/good posts...

Since JJ started it (WPG) I can now confirm it. The Hawks are talith the Jets (started during the All Star break) but its for more than just a DMan. Right now its a multi player deal that would involve one active roster player from the Hawks. And JJ is right, there is no discussion between the teams regarding Buff or Ladd...the Hawks would like Ladd, but the EC bidding prices are too high. Look for a move from the Jets relatively soon.

As for folks being concerned about Boedkker's +/- rating, the thing to look at with a player like that is their commitment to defence. Is he just a "hawk" waiting for breakout passes, and the answer is no. He hustles on defence and back checks...and on a line with Toews and Hossa, NO ONE would consider "dogging it" for a second, so IMO its not an issue at all.

As DBH said, Boedkker's speed will open up massive space for both Toews and Hossa with the puck, and that can only help their production.

As for teams asking for Teravainen, I was told the #1 player that teams are calling on is Marko Dano. If the Hawks will part with Dano, they'll get Drouin, and could close on a number of deals around the league.

Also, I have been hesitating saying the particulars about CAR, but Francis and Bowman have kicked the tires on a Jeff Skinner deal, where CAR would be taking back part of his contract. But again, they want Dano and no Bickell. I was told that for Dano Bowman was wanting to add a DMan, but that involved CAR taking back a current roster player. Bowman and Francis have also discussed Staal, Rask and Versteeg. Two notes on Eric Staal, he wants to come to CHI and has agreed to play LW on the Toews line, should the need arise. The issue is his massive Cap hit...so Staal would more than likely become a rental player. Again, it could happen because Francis likes Marko Dano, however, as Wiz said, I just don't see Bowman moving Dano (at all) for anything less than a future roster player.

As JJ mentioned, Bowman currently is in talks with a NUMBER of teams, and with that an even larger number of players. Bowman has a "preferred" short list, but is allowing himself to go in any number of directions should those deals fall apart.

A couple of final notes, VAN has reproached the Hawks yesterday and "upped" their end of deal that would see them acquiring Dano. There's no word from CGY right now, as Treliving has asked ownership for another week to "see" if they can make a playoff push (incredible).

Have a great day everyone!

thanks Mexico! We are so blessed to have so many different knowledgeable insights between DBH, JJ and you. Ehlers seems to be a pipe dream from Winnipeg. if the Hawks are looking to redo their bottom two lines, I would like to see another lemieux in a Hawks Jersey

Love Simmonds but thats a STEEP price to part with

Practically puts the prospect pipeline at ZERO

Danault is already up. TT is already up. Panarin is in the show for good.

After losing Dano and Hartman, your best forward prospect is your pick between McNeil, Baun, Kero, or Hinostroza

and thats U-G-L-Y, you aint got now alibi UGLY. Easily would be the worst forward prospect pool in the league overnight. Not great for a team that needs value to fill out the roster the next 4-5 years

Motte, Louis, and Schmaltz don't count as prospects?

Straight female, but I'm probably to blame for starting this with the yoga pic and then continuing it with the NYE pic. Thanks for the much deserved smack upside the head.

What does count as a prospect? I always thought it was any of the players who are signed to a team and not yet in the NHL? But I've seen trade rumors where they are referring to TT as a prospect? So now I'm confused

Motte, Louis and Schmaltz are still in College. Not signed to contracts as of yet. They can still opt not to sign with the Hawks and go the Free agency route (Kevin Hayes)

Tuulola too. How has he looked since the WJCs?
- tredbrta

To be honest I haven´t seen him playing after that. His team HPK is worst team at the moment in Finnish Elite League. Team is a mess right now and head coach got fired just few days ago. Next year Joni will have good and familiar coach in Antti Pennanen who was assistant coach for team Finland in U20´s. I guess getting better coach helps Joni in developing.

Joni´s younger brother Eetu (eligible for this years draft) has played few games in FEL already. Big body RW (6-3 225) and really nice skill set to have for that size.

Anyone on here familiar with Dallas? I'm headed there tonight and will be seeing the game on Saturday, and am taking any and all recommendations for restaurants, bars, and such!
- maria_wyeth

I did a BBQ tour through the Austin area but also ate in Dallas at a place called Pecan Lodge. It stacks up to the best out there. Beef ribs were great...as are all the beef ribs in Texas, lol!

Signed isn't a pre-requisite. Motte and Louis were drafted but not yet signed. Their rights are still Hawk property so they are Hawk prospects. Most names not on the Rockford roster are unsigned but the Hawks have their rights - usually via the draft. Sometimes (Forsling) via trade.

I count every player in the system as a prospect and the Hawks look like they have a handful of them that good be good-very good.

From the Reddit game day thread:

A bit of an update on the much maligned Swede Hawk, David Rundblad of the ZSC Lions (Aston Matthews team) is now a Swiss Cup champion. He scored a crucial goal and was later voted as the best player of the game.

During Rundblads time in ZSC he had 9 points (2+7) and +7 in 6 games.

I'm not in any way suggesting they bring him back, but do the BH still have his rights or was his contract voided?

Or if Nick Leddy had been standing an inch to either side...

Stupid Alec Martinez deflections. I've seen him out at bars in Hermosa/Manhattan on occasion. I don't really recall this, likely due to some drinking, but my dad swears I called Martinez "cup ruiner" the first time we saw him out after the 2014 WCF

- maria_wyeth

I do not know how everyone keeps bringing Leddy bounce. To me what stings most was Shaw missing wide open empty net on 59th minute of regular time of that game 7. Or Quick being more sharp that Crowford in that deciding game.

Until any of them are signed and under the Hawks organization. No

Thanks. Interesting stuff on Eetu. Hawks certainly are known to draft brothers.

Have you seen any of Norel, Press or Dahlstrom? I think Chris Block or someone wrote Dahlstrom has rebounded some this year.

Not true. Hayes was still a Hawk prospect until his rights expired. The same could be said of those 3. The team that drafts a player still has an advantage in signing them from college. Motte will probably be signed like Paliotta was... The Hawks have the ability to sign Motte and play him enough games to quickly use a year of his ELC. Same applies to the others as well.

Hayes had a mediocre junior season with a well publicized suspension. Not even sure the Hawks wanted to sign him. When he blossomed his senior year they didn't have any advantage over other teams.

and don't forget Carter's offsides goal. There were a lot of things that sting about that series. Definitely not just the Leddy bounce.

No I haven´t. Dahlstrom plays in same team with Forsling. While Forsling has 3+13 +18 in 37 games, Dahlstrom who is known for being defensive D has 1+3 +2 in 39 games with Linkoping HC.

Kevin Hayes was very much the exception...not the rule. Most NCAA prospects will not complete college and will sign ELC's early.

Expect Schmaltz to sign as soon as his current year at North Dakota ends.

I disagree. They have their rights, but thats about it.

For all intents and purposes, the Hawks dont control their contract situation or development at all.

Sure they can tell them things they want them to work on and host them for 1 week a year at prospects camp, but thats it.

-Schmaltz, Motte, & Louis all played on the USA U20 team
-Schmaltz, & Louis played for the Chicago Mission & were linemates the past 2 Prospect Camps
-Louis & Motte played on the USA U17 & USA U18 teams

So it's very different than a Kevin Hayes situation. All 3 players are good friends.

Doesn't Runblad have the option to void his own contact? If so, hopefully he enjoyed being in closer to home he will just decide to stay there.

At least that what everyone in the Hawk organization is praying for.

I'll just offer this counter-point.

IMO, the Hawks were a little bit lucky to get to 7 games in that series, much less OT. I mean full marks because they battled hard to get back into it, but they were beat up with a few key guys playing through injuries (Hossa, Toews, Hammer) and they were overmatched down the middle.
