Danault may be considered redundant with Kruger now. However wrist injuries are not that predictable. Strong wrists are so important in hockey, especially for faceoff men. Also Danault could be a #2c center in this league down the road with scoring potential. I never see Kruger being more than a #3c center with limited offensive potential (scoring or assisting( and PK specialist. - -Doh-
Agreed on all. I was just commenting that it would make sense to suggest a trade for Danault if you were Bergevin on the grounds that his potential for redundancy might be what got the Hawks to move. Not that it makes sense to trade him. Of course, trading anyone CAN make sense IF it's the right return. Trust me, I wear Dirk Grahams sweater to games. I like guys like Danault.
And remember, had Bowman not stood pat with Zus and Rozy in 2014, the Hawks would already be sitting on "3 in a row" IMO. - MexicoHawk
Or if Nick Leddy had been standing an inch to either side...
Stupid Alec Martinez deflections. I've seen him out at bars in Hermosa/Manhattan on occasion. I don't really recall this, likely due to some drinking, but my dad swears I called Martinez "cup ruiner" the first time we saw him out after the 2014 WCF
For me, I'd be happier with a center with a good face off percentage instead of a LW, they were brutal at the dot vs the Avs minus the captain and I imagine come playoff time that's where they are really going to struggle - BetweenTheDots
Maybe it was a fluke or flash-in-the-pan situation, but Danault won 10 of 14 face-offs in that game.
Bergy might be asking about Kruger too, never know. I recall being at Prospect Camp in 2009 with Wiz and seeing Bergy, Steve Smith and Scotty all smiling and nodding at each other at some of the smart little splays Kruger was making—while all the fans were looking for Kyle Beach. - John Jaeckel
Bergy is pretty slow on the draw and has made some silly acquisitions that haven't worked out - like Kassian and Semin when he could have had Sharp. The Habs probably need to win 22 of their final 30 games just to make the playoffs. He's dreaming if he thinks there is a magic fix for him on the trade market.
I just dont see what helpful piece we could get from MTL that fits what we need AND is affordable to give up someone like Danault AND bergevin is willing to part with
Also, I have a feeling if Bowman tries to move a forward in Rockford at the trade deadline, it might be Ross. His production is down this season, and has been skating on the 3rd line as of late. - EKB13
Boy, the more and more I think is that Bowman is definitely dealing from strength (minus the cap) as how many teams are wanting his youngsters. So there could be a couple of great deadline deals to be made and for teams to call the Hawks one last time before pulling the trigger on a potential trade. I give him credit for his great work getting ahead of the deadline and freeing up those extra pennies with the trades of Daley and Garbutt and moving Bickell down. Those moves are giving Stan some pretty solid flexibility. I think he now may be able to unload Bickell (fingers crossed) to someone who is more desperate and has a hard on for one of his hogs for a solid player.
You think that's when Krugs will be back? Like to see another one added - BetweenTheDots
I have heard NOTHING about his rehab. I would assume on time. Yeah, the wrists are important in face-offs. But so are the hips and core. Really hard to say but I'm a huge believer in the heart and will of Marcus Kruger.
I was looking to see who Montreal might be offering up.

Do you think montreal could be looking at Darling if price is out for a few more months or are they just throwing in the towel? - kmw4631
Emelin is too expensive to be a third pair guy in Chicago IMO and desharnais I dont want any part of. They have been trying to run him out of town for years

Oh, I don't disagree, but that won't stop Bergy from asking.

Pacioretty! Doubt Bergevin is willing to part with him, but he is a very good compliment to Toews and Hossa. Pretty affordable too.
Maybe the Canadiens decides to shut it down and re-build. Who knows what's going on in Montreal.

I still think he'd prefer a good young d-man (preferably one Cooper can plug in this year) to a good young W. But I suspect he will go with best available at some point. - John Jaeckel
I wonder too, if Steve Y is going to be patient and wait for the right deal.
Factors I see
- Can Drouin's value get driven much lower in the next 3-6 months?
- How desperate is TB for help, after winning 9 of their last 10 and getting more secure in playoff positioning.
- How much salary uncertainty does Steve Y want to take on. They are heading toward some tough choices of their own in the next 1-3 seasons in regards to the salary cap. I don't see TB keeping all their pieces in place as is.
This is all just my opinion anyway. Maybe Steve Y feels they need the extra help right now still to get by a team like Washington.

Someone posted that the Swedes, including Oduya, vacationed together in Mexico during the ASG break. Looks like his wrist is still in a cast, but clearly he's working on his hips and core.
