In hearing Voracek talk after I don't think the linesmen knew he was asking if he could go in with the Simmonds penalty being up because no one was in the box.

Either way it was a bizarre situation

Konecny and Provorov look like gems.

Morin, Hagg and Sanheim could be good but what else is on the way for the Flyers that makes you so confident?

- MidnightMarauder

Because no other teams have prospects, I guess. Only the Flyers will improve.

So why would as tiop line , 20-25 goal producing p!ayer drop the gloves with a goon?

Should the Flyers call up a goon to make things square with McDonagh for the cross check to the head?

It sounds just as stupid from both perspective's.. Both players did it wrong with the refs doing it the worst. A match major and a dive should get the refs fined or have to watch hours of film

- opeth_pa

So who's this "everyone" that Simmonds stands up to? First liners only, top pair defensemen? All I'm seeing is the precursor to excuses for the full of poop statement of Simmonds doesn't back down to anyone

McIlrath is not a talentless goon; he's just a big strong kid that has a considerable weight advantage on Simmonds.

But having said that, if you play with that edge that Simmonds has, you have to answer the bell on occasion.

I agree that both players handled this poorly but what sent it over the edge is how the officials handled it. Just a poorly managed moment that could have been squelched if the stripes knew what they were doing.

- MidnightMarauder

Agreed and Simmonds does answer the bell as he is one of , could make the case is, the top power forwards in the league right now and is as tough a producing player as their is. Noit saying as tough as more of a fighter but rather as a goal+point producer+toughness.

That being said I would love to see both Simmonds and McDonagh square up with the refs because a play that happens a million times a year is not a match and a player with a possible concussion, god I hope not, or something else dove.

Go refs.

Well thats just it, If Simmonds plays McDonagh hard, someone from the Rangers needs to step in for McDonagh.

I'm sure if it was Kreider targeting Giroux every game, the Flyers would put someone out there to deal with Kreider.

Why would McDonagh square up with Simmonds, he would get killed. Its like saying Giroux should square up with Kreider

So by your logic McDonagh is gonna answer the bell for a dangerous cross check if we call up a fighter?

Because it would make sense for one if the better dmen in the world to be off the ice for 5 mins just like it would make sense for one of the better power forwards to be off.

In watching every Flyers game I know what I see and Simmonds doesn't back down from anyone.

Exactly.

McDonagh, especially when playing like he has lately, is by far the Rangers best player not named Lundqvist.

The Rangers should protect their captain as every team should.

Lost in translation...

What I'm saying is I would love to see Simmonds and McDonagh go at it with the refs in a WWE tag team match because they called a ridiculous dive and match penalty.

Thankfully their next matchup is a week away. Get it out of the way, hopefully some sort of proper conclusion occurs and both teams move on.

I am of the train of thought that if the officials handled this the right way none of this happens yesterday.

Simmonds was miffed about an earlier Kreider high hit thate went unpenalized. The refs have such a impact on the game when they don't do their jobs.

I don't understand the Flyers organization, the players and everything and everybody that surrounds that team.

We can all agree that in 2012 the Penguins tried to cheap shot their way through the flyers into the 2nd. Fans, radio PbP team beat reporter went crazy with some of the stuff the Penguins tried.

Whether it was Crosby breaking Giroux's wrist or this gem.

But Mcdonagh should just got up be cause he faked it.

The Flyers fans saying he dove are just as big of homers as the Rangers fans defending the cross check..

I think that the Flyers and everybody involved with them get taken back by other teams playing "Flyers Hockey." It's like the Flyers trademarked it and nobody else is allowed to use those type of tactics.

I didn't. I worked at 12 shift yesterday. Wasn't gonna read through 25 pages of hockey, some if it being garbage. I'm actually asking. Because when the Flyers play like that. It's embraced by the city and the fans. Which is fine. But how can you be mad when other teams play like that against the flyers. I just don't understand.

Yep but Simmonds was the victim there too
- Bannedforbros

Simmonds is a good player to have, but like Lucic, they can both dish it out but they can't take it. If somebody hits them, they usually wind up flipping out and taking stupid penalties. Simmonds should have gotten more for throwing the stick at the ref, but by that time the ref knew even he was in too deep.

Have you actually read the majority of the posts that say both players did it wrong but the refs did it worse?

Homers on both side are posting about this.
