Like Ray said, don't blame Marchand at all, that's just sour grapes. - stashu
I'm not allowed to be upset unless i'm upset at the appropriate person...

The bad call aside, Kane in a grinding, forechecking role is 10x better than him on the top line. He's been way more effective.
And Lehner does look great |
|
|

I like the way the team is coming together, Lehner specifically. I love his fire. It's really nice to have a decent goalie again. |

Absolutely a crap call, a hometown p*ssy call. For the same ref to p*ssy out on an obvious penalty shot for mcginn to call that a penalty shot is embarrassing. If the league had any balls, they'd send ref#23 down to the AHL. There should be some accountability. |

Lehner: "Honestly if I say something now, I'm gonna get in..., it wasn't even a penalty, that was... oh my god, embarrassing"
He's ready to explode. do it robin. Do it! |

Literally absurd. McGinn is on a clear break away and we just get a penalty. Risto puts his hand on Marchand doesn't get a clear break away yet is unfathomably gets a penalty shot???? How is that possible? |

Still wasn't a penalty shot on McGinn... Got him from the side. Has to be from behind. Ok, I'll grant it was at a 45 degree angle, but that's still not from behind. I'll give him some credit from where he was (in bad position) it looks like Risto throws his stick. But he should've conferred with the other officials, not just made the decision right away. |

It doesn't matter if someone is tripped like that on a breakaway versus a tie up on a neutral puck. It's as clear as day. Everyone else who isn't wearing a Boston Bruins jersey was shocked in that the ref called a penalty shot. It was ridiculous. |

That's supposed to sway his opinion because? Because the players of the team in question say so, gimme a break. The McGinn call was fine, the risto one however... |

McGinn's could've been a penalty shot I've seen A LOT less calls called a penalty shot. Like I don't know.... the other one tonight. |

If we're comparing the 2 the McGinn call is about 1000 times more worthy of being a penalty call compared to the bullpoop they gave Marchand |

They've become very inconsistent with the PS calls. |

And the rule book disagrees with them.
24.8 Infractions – Refer to the Reference Tables – Table 11 – Summary of Penalty Shots (page 140) for a list of the infractions that shall result in a penalty shot being awarded (see specific rule numbers for complete descriptions).
There are four (4) specific conditions that must be met in order for the Referee to award a penalty shot for a player being fouled from behind. They are:
(i) The infraction must have taken place in the neutral zone or attacking zone, (i.e. over the puck carrier’s own blue line);
(ii) The infraction must have been committed from behind;
(iii) Theplayerinpossessionandcontrol(or,inthejudgmentofthe Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have been denied a reasonable chance to score (the fact that he got a shot off does not automatically eliminate this play from the penalty shot consideration criteria. If the foul was from behind and he was denied a “more” reasonable scoring opportunity due to the foul, then the penalty shot should be awarded);
(iv) Theplayerinpossessionandcontrol(or,inthejudgmentofthe Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have had no opposing player between himself and the goalkeeper. - NHL rule book |

Puck was rolling around, McGinn never fully had control |

That's irrelevant. All 4 conditions have to be met to be awarded a penalty shot. He wasn't fouled from behind. No penalty shot. Was it close? Sure. But it was not clear cut. |

Then please explain the rational of how the OT penalty shot was closer to the rule book |
