so a match penalty that Simmonds was called for gets an automatic hearing?

Will they do this tonight since they have another matinee game tomorrow?

- Marc D

He's already been en route to Toronto to face the NHL firing squad.

I'd sell as much D as possible save for Ghost, MDZ and Gudas(for now). Between Streit, Schultz and Medvedev they should at worst be be able to come away with a couple of 2nds and 3rds.

Maybe they can get a little something for Ganger too. Like a 4th.

Wouldn't be that hard to imagine Hexy walking away from this deadline with four extra picks.

He started it with them but towards the end of OT Gotisbehere had been out a while and was tired when G and Jake came on, so they went with #32
- Marc D

Yeah, they long shifted Ghost and it ended up throwing the pairings off.

His feet are what scare me. He is just a poor skater for being undersized. He's worked on skating supposedly, but there's only so much he can do. He has good vision, good hands, and is just a little poop to play against haha. But I'm just not as high on Cousins as some. They have a quicker, more experienced Cousins already on the roster that for reasons unknown is persona non grata. That's what baffles me. It's not like Cousins didn't do OK today though...

Fair argument...probably why he's still in the A.

Hard to imagine all three getting dealt. Medvedev would be the one I keep if you're telling me I can move the other two for fair value.

I think Cousins has the game where he could play a 4th line role as an energy player. He just has that chippy pest game. A skilled 4th liner instead of a grinder.

I think the writing is on the wall Medvedev is gone. He has such skill and plays aggressive NZ defense like Hak wants, but he can't help himself with the mistakes. The coaching staff doesn't have much trust in him. Today he played least d minutes. He did well minus a couple bad turnovers too.

He always seems to take it one step too far. Makes a nice play to exit the zone and instead of giving it up or just dumping it in ( ), he'll try to skate through two people to get into the offensive zone.

His turnovers don't really show up in his underlying numbers, but it definitely sticks out when it happens

This is spot on. He basically takes it too far too often and can't stop from shooting himself in the foot. He'd be a really really solid player of he just reeled it in a little bit

His skill level is phenomenal. Cannon shot, good offensive instincts, imo the best d stick handler on the team. Ghost is good, but he uses his skating more than dangling. Medvedev has forward hands. If he plays in the NHL next year, probably for a different team if they take him, wouldn't shock me to see him improve. Wouldn't shock me if old dog, new tricks applies either. He's just so unreliable whatever his skill level is.

I see more officials need to be drilled by players. HORRIFIC call on Simmonds ! If anything, McDonagh should be suspended for a cross check too the head. This is what happens when all the nancy boys take on ice patrolling away !

Funny thing is, If Simmonds dropped his gloves and pounded him he would of only got 2, 5 and 10

Got hit in the face with a puck and missed shifts while off for repairs.

Typical Flyers loss. Sit back and try to milk a 1 goal lead. How you put close to 20 shots in the 2nd and then come back to only register 1 shot in both the 3rd and OT is beyond me.

Totally forgot about that. Though I don't believe he missed much time. Did he play in OT at all either?

EDIT: just checked. He got ~2 min 40 sec in 3rd, sat out the final 6-7 min with the lead, then didn't play in OT. Took the puck to the face in the 2nd. Some score effects there, I think, but his shift chart was a little spotty all game, even w/ injury missing a shift perhaps. Doesn't shock me though -- coaches are using him situationally; their trust in him hasn't been there since the MDZ injury months ago. He just seems like the type of player that coaches grit their teeth through his shifts.

Why wasn't Ghost with G and V in overtime?

It's a good one, at the moment, but not every single prospect turns into a good NHL player.

Nope but I'd much rather have a bust draft pick than giving out a big contract or making a big trade giving up assets that doesn't work & you have little to nothing to show for it
