Thing is, Hakstol runs a very very friendly system for a guy like Meddy. This isn't Berube era. Hak wants controlled exits, entries, aggressive pinches and stick checks. His problems here wouldn't dissipate on one of those teams. Turnover issues are usually overrated for guys great with the puck bc they simply have it more...but man does he push it with turnovers. Unnecessary forced plays. That's not even talking about his coverage defense.

None of that would change on a different team....paired with a reliable partner? Perhaps, but his mistakes are often his own. He played well today minus that 1 on 3 turnover. His talent is fantastic, and I think it could still be a matter of getting used to things. Look at Kuzy this year vs last -- sometimes it doesn't click right away, especially for a guy who spent over a decade in the KHL. I am a fan of his skills, and I was a huge champion for resigning him earlier, but his inconsistencies are frustrating. If he comes back to the NHL next season, wouldn't shock me to see that change. Won't be with the Flyers, I reckon.

I honestly think his problem is more about his d zone play off the puck than the turnovers. Hak has no problem with a guy like Gudas selling out for every pinch and hit imaginable in the name of aggressiveness. Manning too. Those aren't star guys. It's the chances against in combination with the turnovers.
