Based on Risto's performance, his maturity and his consistent and continuing improvement I would try to lock him up on a long deal now. He's 21 - I'd try to tie him up for his entire career. I'd ask for a something like 8 years at $45.

Will be a very tricky situation with Risto... He's not at the top tier defenceman level yet but do you hope to pay him in the 6.25 million dollar range a year and hope he plays actually better than that or do you under pay with a bridge deal of like 5 million a year then he ends up being very good in two years and you have to pay him 7-8 million a year.
