Gionta has one year after this year, and Gorges has 2 years after this year. I think they want to be fighting for a playoff spot next year, giving 4 million to McGinn isn't the way to do it. Moulson and Gionta will be at best 3rd liners next year, so all this is relevant since McGinn plays wing and would be slated on line 3. He is an average player, nothing too special, the way the roster is constructed, there isn't room for him on the team. - Mentalorgasm5
If we want to be competing for a playoff spot wouldnt be in more in our favor to keep him instead of trading him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick? Also i dont see how there is no room for him on this team as you say. He is a better and more valuable player than gionta or Moulson right now. I can see how someone would disagree with the cost of keeping him but its a little silly to say there is no room for him. |

If Stewart got us a 2nd, McGinn will do the same. A first won't happen unless we add, and I think we have the pieces we're willing to part with to do it. - sskkoo1

A first in the top 10 means a team not going to the playoffs, why would they be buyers for McGinn?

McGinn, Catenacci, and a 3rd. For a first expected to be in the 22-30 range seems fair. |

No I said it. Guy seems to get injured every ten games... I'm starting to wonder if it's better off trading him while he still has a high ceiling for a high end D prospect. - bluengold12
It's also possible that he came back before he fully recovered. |

Shelf Girgensons for the rest of the year. It will keep him from getting hurt any more this season, helps us stay in the basement for a top 5 pick, it takes away any possible leverage he has for asking for big money, it allows us room to bring up Rochester guys and evaluate what we have. |

McGinn+ for someone like Drouin would be great, but far fetched probably |

So Lehner.. A snipe, a tip and a completely blown assignment on the 1st three goals. I don't blame him at all. First shaky period he's had since back in net.
Wait. On 2nd thought.. I CANT BELIEVE THAT MURRAY TRADED A HIGH VALUE 1ST ROUND PICK FOR THIS TIRE FIRE OF A GOALIE !!
I need more. |

That sounds like Déjà vu all over again... We did the same thing with him last year. If he's ready to play I want to see him play. If he shows signs of improvement offer a bridge deal, if not trade his rights this off season |

I think they'd ask for McGinn, Girgensons for Drouin. McGinn is still just a rental unless he tells them he'll sign an extension. Tampa will want a permeant quality piece coming back to them. |

That's a great point. Anyone know the reason behind this? Bylsma didn't sound like he thought Ennis was close to ready and I don't think he's skating yet. What is the rule for IR, does he need to be out for a certain amount of time if he gets that tag?
Also, McCabe on wing, forgot about that - Zschalberg
At least 7 days. Maybe 10, and it can be applied retroactively as well, so we just put Girgensons on it today, but we could put him on retroactive to when he suffered the injury. |

this is why I would trade girgens over larsson, assuming neither are long term solution for the top 6

McGinn will get traded if he and his agent think he can make more on the open market that the Sabres are offering. Agents are often right.
Unless you're Fransons agent.
Gaustad and a fourth got us a 1st.
McGinn and a 3rd?(we got three of them)….Or may be take back a contract?...to a bubble team that's desperate for "that edge?" not out of the question.
…And to be clear, I'd rather have him on this team than not. But if he has an opportunity to hit pay dirt, I don't blame him. He should just be sold to the highest bidder. - seedy
between his wonky back and the fact he should not be on our top 6 after next season makes me say trade him |

Larsson will never be a top 6 guy in the NHL on a quality team. I'm starting to doubt Girgensons can as well |

1 2nd
2 3rd (stars and blues)
1 4th
2 5th (ours and habs)
1 6th
2 7th (ours and habs)
we gave a 3rd (ours) to the pens for our creative coach
we gave a second to the habs for gorges (wild pick) |
