Stewart was a former 30 goal scorer, McGinn has never cracked the 20s, I think some are really overvalueing McGinn trade value. - Mentalorgasm5
I think he gets us a 2nd |

Top9 for the future
O'Reilly
Eichel
Reinhart
Kane
Girgensons
This year's Draft Pick (most likely)
That's 6, without question
Ennis
Larsson
Foligno
Is McGinn really worth spending 4mil per to keep Foligno or Larsson on the 4th line?
And we have a TON of forward prospects with top9 potential
So even if u do want Foligno &/or Larsson on the 4th line, we'd only need 2 of those guys to work out
That 4mil would be better spent going towards a defenseman - jdfitz77
Thank you, that's my point when I say there is no room for him. Since next year both Gionta and moulson are under contract.

He very might, however, that's the highest return we get, Gaborik only a 3rd and a 5th, I just don't think a 2nd is a lock. |

Sorry to say but Thats a stretch to say that our 1st round pick (unless its Matthews) will step into the league next season. And no we dont have a TON of forward prospects that are that promising. |

Maybe, but a 2nd round pick will be in the 45-60 range. What's the odds of a player picked in that area becoming a solid NHLer < 20%. For a team that wants to add a solid winger for a cup run, than I think McGinn fits right in that price tag, especially if more than one team wants him. |

I would think they are. Laine has a pro level shot and puljujarvi has pro level speed and hands. Not to mention they are both big boys. |

Im assuming you never payed attention to him while he was in the peg then?
I think he is just fine. His assist total is pretty low this year but if he can stay healthy and score at the rate he is, be a good posession player while taking more defensive starts than offensive ones, be our best forechecker all while beating a few guys up along the way he is worth every penny. - ieetbred
I actually did watch him play a lot in winnipeg but I never saw him really fitting in there. When he was injured it seemed like the team played a lot better. Don't get me wrong, when he was scoring and putting up points we loved seeing him on the ice.
I'm glad to hear he's working out for the Sabres, I wasn't really sure how the fans felt about him there. I do expect that he will be part of a solid team in the near future, you guys have a great core that will start winning with a few more pieces and age. |

Matthews and the three wingers are NHL ready. Depending on which team gets him maybe Chychrun too. |

Murray screws up the Moulson deal by giving him 5 years at 5 per but has an issue with term on McGinn? Doesn't make sense. - mhp
Maybe learning from his mistakes? I don't know. That's just what I got out of what he was saying. |

I liken McGinn to a Jochen Hecht type player maybe not quite the same offense, but not really that far off either. A type of player that makes more contributions to the team than just scoring goals and isn't always the flashy guy on the ice. And Hecht was signed to a 4 year $14.1 million which he signed at age 30 in 2007 when the salary cap was only $50.3 million. - Wetbandit1
Did you take this from Briere? He said McGinn reminds him of Hect today on hockey hotline. |

Yes we do
Not top line promising, but 3rd line? Sure

Does anyone think Girgensons plus maybe another prospect or pick get us any of
Shea Theodore, Travis Sanheim, Michael Matheson, Madison Bowey or Samuel Morin
I think if we can get one of these players it could really turn us into an eventual powerhouse. |

Probably not, blue-chip prospects like that usually aren't traded unless it's for a bigger piece or another blue-chip prospect. |

I didn't say anything about NEXT season, but any of the top4 forwards can likely play in the NHL next season
Going by

7. Second-Line Forward/ No. 3-4 Defenseman / Journeyman No. 1 Goaltender – players not quite good enough to play on the top line or pairing on a regular basis, but still possessing enough talent to contribute offensively, defend with some authority, or competently play the goaltender’s position for long stretches
We have NINE guys with a score of 7 or better that are still prospects
And another 9 with a score of 6 or 6.5, which for them equates to 3rd line talent
Now...
Of course not all of these will hit, but my point is that we only need a couple of them to bc we already have at least 5 or 6 guys locked in for years

I'd offer Fasching + for a top defensive prospect
Especially if we get one of the top forwards in this draft |

Girgensons is a former 1st round pick. Only four years ago. And has a lot of potential. Maybe we can get Michael Matheson or Madison Bowey for him straight up or one of the others for him plus a 2nd or 3rd. |
