that was special circumstance- nashville was looking at losing suter to free agency, the stars all lined up just right for poile to feel like he had to overpay for a third line center. if one was so inclined to suggest that gaustad should have been moved for whatever the best pick offered- one day after miller got steam rolled by lucic, i wouldnt stand in their way. either way, gaustad and a fourth for a mid first is an unreasonable return that should not be expected.

I agree, very special circumstance, which is why it shouldn't be used as an example. A 1st for gaustad was beyond too high of compensation for him. It seems that many use that as a benchmark for trading away rentals, rather than what it was, an aberration.
