so in a cap era, you would rather pay girgens 4 mil for 55-60 games on the third line then pay larsson 1.5 mil for 75 games on the 3rd line
assume we won't land a legit top 4 d man capable of playing top minutes as a FA
what asset do you move to get that man? - homiedclown
You can't make up numbers to back up your argument. Girgensons would not get 4M per year. That's more than Ennis got as a bridge contract.
And lest you forget that Larsson is a RFA just like Girgensons right now and they are making less than 100k difference between them.
I bet Girgensons would get 2.5-3M TOPS each season for 3 years and Larsson will get 1.5-2M. The difference between them and upside to Girgensons is WELL worth keeping them both ESPECIALLY if we lose Foligno on that 3rd line. |

We get Loose change back, at best. |

Ennis
one of your juniors d-men
one of McCabe/Pysyk
Ullmark
or for the right player/right scenario:
2016 1st rounder. |

excellent point - Michael Pachla
doesn't explain the concussion in rochester
the ding in his rookie season with the big club
the dings this year
plus I am sure the all star nod will cost a few pennies at the negotiating table

they have about 4 quacks I would like to have in their pipeline - homiedclown
huge gus fan here...if murray can pull that off for a sure-fire top-pairing d-man, I'm in...however, not sure if his counterparts will bite |

somebody suggested moving kane over to the right side and I really like that idea...target ladd this off season for left wing - Michael Pachla
I personally love Ladd as a UFA... but he is goign to request BIG money. I've heard in the 6.5M per year range. |

You guys have a stack of centers 2 of them with stamkos like potential. You guys should be doing whatever you can to trade for 2 top 4 defensemen. You get them and your in the playoffs next year. If im buffalo im keeping my 1st, rist, bogo, kane, rielly and my 3 young centers. Everyone else and picks in the draft are fair game. |

he is going to miss 1/4 of his games, based on his 3 season here and the season in rochester
ror missed less then 10% of his games to injury
some players are more fragile then others
after the connolly era, if it becomes a trend (injuries), I don't want them taking a chunk of our cap - homiedclown
How big is this "chunk" u think he'll take up?
I don't think his next contract will be all that big at all
3mil per?
Something like that

can't see him making more than $3m/season...and for a solid, two-way, top-nine forward with plenty of offensive upside, he's worth keeping for at least another year or two |

Girgensons for 60 games is greater than what we'd get back for him imo. He's a good player, not great but good. He's a third liner who can move up. He can provide offense and shut down players. But he's not going to get you much trading him. |

Pretty much this... yes...
Kane - ROR - Reinhart
Matthews/Puljujarvi/Laine - Eichel - Ennis
Larsson - Girgenson - McGinn

my guess is 3.5 per
and for 60 games in the 3rd line, not good value if he is putting up 15-20 points a year
again, it's different if he is given a chance to be a fixture on our top 6, but I do not see that happening with this coach |

and if he stays dinged for a bit in both years, and puts up 15 points a year, your getting 40 cents on the dollar when right now you can get 80 cents |

I actually think the Sabres could have an advantage if they were to move someone like Pysyk or Girgensons. They are cheap and have very good underlying numbers.
I wouldn't want to trade both, but if you could swing one + maybe McGinn, and take back a solid player or prospect I'd consider it |

assume mcginn could net a second at the deadline
gus, mcginn and a few thirds couldn't land a player the ducks can't keep long term?
not sure I agree |

that's a tough one...he's 30, which is way at the top-end of murray's ideal...might be able to balance that out with term...5 yrs./$32m for a player with two cup rings on two different teams doesn't seem all that outlandish and may be as high as the sabres could go |

I love how people forget that guys like McCabb and Pysyk are top 4 pairing quality guys... even Guhle almost made the big club this year in camp as a 2nd rounder.
We don't need to trade the farm for someone else's head case or garbage.
I see us trading Franson and Weber this year... Colia walks.
Sign a guy like Yandle or Demers to play top 4.
Demers/Yandle - Risto
Bogo - Pysyk
Gorges - McCabe
NOTE - Vatanen, Gudbranson, Krug, S. Jones, M. Rielly, Forbort, Oleksiak are all RFAs |
