This is shaping up to what I think will be the crappest trade deadline ever.
The Oilers should be forced to trade away their first pick - HamiltonHawk
they shouldn't even be allowed a top ten pick for 5 years.... |

whoa!
drouin going into uncharted terriroty here. taking the article at face value (it is sportsnet), doesn't seem like he necessarily choose the best path to a bigger pay day.
you gotta think the best thing for him is to report to the ahl and get playing again. - Tumbleweed
Unfortunately I have alot of doubt that Walsh would allow him to tuck tail and return. With Walsh's history of player holdouts etc I just don't see it happening.
One thing I believe adamantly is Yzerman never told Walsh "a deal was imminent" b/c if that were true Yzerman would have held Drouin out of the game not wanting to risk injury to ruin a trade that in said case Yzerman would be happy with (he wouldn't make a deal otherwise). Not to mention no way Yzerman would call an agent to let him know a deal was imminent b/c we all know that news would be on twitter seconds later

this may be the most accurate statement, alto one game is not enough for me and he actually played decent. his foot speed is an issue against speedy forwards - AlfieisKing
Luckily you have 5 more years to find out what us Leaf fans have known for 5 years. That this statement is only partially true. It's not just foot speed that's an issue. It's skating backwards, pivoting, and hitting the net without killing one of his own players!!! Luckily none of those deficiencies are that important cause he plays defence! Oops??? |

now that more implications are coming out, sure seems more and more like he's getting bad advice from walsh. |

I would do that. |

He can't talk about it because he hasn't made it up yet. I'm sure he'll dream something up since he has nothing better to do living in his mom's basement. |

My sources tell me that the Leafs and Tampa are talking about a deal that includes JVR, Leafs 1st round pick Drouin and Stamkos. And by sources I mean the voices in my head that sometimes tell me to burn things |

Beauleiu + 2nd or Dumba for Drouin. Blues aint moving poop, habs and Minny have bullpin for it. Cash wise both deals are similar cap wise, but Dumba will require much more to resign than beaulieu. Habs would be reluctant considering he is pushing a top 2 spot but there are others on the market that could fill a hole for a cash price, which that have room for. Tampa does not. |

He isn't losing value jabroni - Feds91Stammer
Likely his next contract value is eroding daily. Yzerman not likely to get the equivalent of a third overall pick back. |

Did anybody see the podcast yesterday where the wise guys decided that any talk about Conner McDavid being a contender for rookie of the year was just a Canadian media thing? Wow, are these guys out to lunch! McDavid is a monster talent |

Same reason anyone trades for a players rights. To get him signed before he hits the market and the auction begins. |
