i would love that. since their boy krieder is so good at slide tackling goalies and injuring them. oh that's right...he just lost an edge driving the net...97 times. - hammarby31
Yup.
Hmm, Umberger is about 215 and can't skate worth a poop. He could easily lose an edge.
just sayin.....

Kinda tempted to start screen capping these excuses for Gudas to bring out the next time one of our kids gets run at and you're all screaming bloody murder.
Hell, I'm kind of expecting the Rags to go after G or Ghost with the way they've been acting about McDonough.
Please, all Gudas does is try to throw the biggest hit he possible can. The point of a body check is to stop the player's forward progress and separate the puck from the carrier. Grossmann, when he could catch the player, was fantastic at this. Gudas thinks the point of a body check is to hit the player as hard/fast as you can, which often times leaves him out of position and unable to get possession of the puck. Trying to destroy people is all he tries to do on every shift. - jmatchett383
And if your arguing that he needs to pick better spots I would agree. But that label could be put on numerous players in the league.
As for this hit I don't think there was anything bad. He came on the ice from a change and the play came right to him. He didn't go ou5t of his way to make the play. He separated the man from the puck. Just like he separated Foligno from the puck so Cousins could make a pass to raffl to score.

I totally expect that. And the same people claiming that Gudas did nothing wrong will be the same people griping about it.

honestly I don't really get pissed when that happens if it's a good hit. I get more mad if a teammate doesn't stand up for him afterwards.

Yeah, and I would have called, if nothing else, a trip on that play, too. He probably didn't mean to, but he could have put that guy out with a knee injury. There's a difference between hitting hard and recklessly trying to hurt someone, and I don't think Gudas knows the difference.

For what?
He doesn't move from his path. He doesn't stick a leg out. Foligno tried to avoid the hit which caused him to go off balance.
Pretty cool to see some flyers ranking so high... - Jack-Meoff
Holy moley.
Kinda scary that we have so many highly touted D men in the pipeline and Ghost already looks like a legit beast.
A little unfortunate that Morin didn't make the list. At this point I'm tempering my expectations for him. If he can play the big physical role with his reach and speed, in a 2nd pair role...I'll be happy.

Bull. Check out the video. At 0:55, he actually misses Foligno (he ends up behind him) and stick out a leg.

exactly...100%....if they don't want body checking then take it out of the sport...The kid put himself in a bad spot and paid a price. That's hockey. he didn't leap...he didn't elbow...the guy was lower as he was reaching...been on the receiving end of a few of those...they fricken hurt....but it teaches you not to do it again.
Anyone know any college Fa that are available. I know Veasley is the big name. Curious if the Flyers could target anyone. I think they have a chance to offer playing time unlike most seasons.

Gudas is slow...he misses as much as he connects and takes himself out of the play to often.... that looked like he got beat and tried to get a piece of the player....I don't like to see that and obviously neither did Foligno.

I'm close to done with him. You can be physical with clean hitting. He doesn't have the skill or craft to land these hip checks he's been going for. Kronwall he's not. He's almost snapped two legs in two weeks time - Just5
I have ZERO problem with his attempted hit on Foligno. Foligno tried to avoid the check which is why he was clipped.
