Kinda tempted to start screen capping these excuses for Gudas to bring out the next time one of our kids gets run at and you're all screaming bloody murder.
Hell, I'm kind of expecting the Rags to go after G or Ghost with the way they've been acting about McDonough. - hereticpride
they should stop crying, because he's back. and maybe he shouldn't be crosschecking people in the head.
You don't see a right leg sticking out away from the rest of his body off of the ice?
You might want to get some thicker orange contacts. - jmatchett383
No.
Gudas is skating backwards to initiate a hip check. Foligno tries to jump to the inside. He hits Gudas' leg. He never moves it from where he had it planted skating backwards.

I think it's stupid that Foligno points out that Gudas took out a rookie who has only played a handful of games as if Gudas is fact checking players and their amount of games played before he hits them
You mean don't hit someone who is lunging on one knee? Gimme a break buddy. If your teammate got hit like that, you'd be furious.
I posted this last night. Still relevant:
You can't call a penalty for a hard check. This isn't high school. Lots of times, those kinds of open ice hits are those Kronwallish ones, where the defenseman catches a streaking player with the puck with his head down. Those are good hits, provided we keep our elbows down etc. If you're carrying a puck, there are certain situations where you should expect to be hit (or at least, expect to be lined up) if you're coming through the neutral zone.
But those blindside hits on suicide passes or these kinds are the ones that I think are completely on the D for throwing the hit.
Again- I only saw one replay because of my freezing feed, but this dude was very close to being on one knee while lunging towards the puck while being rubbed off by one our players. If memory serves me right, the puck wasn't even entirely in his possession at the time. He was well entrenched in the process of being inevitably separated from it.
Why is Gudas throwing that hit. The guy's head was so low Gudas hit it with his hip. That, along with being straight blindsided, is the textbook definition of defenseless. - Giroux_Is_God
Gudas throws the hit because that's what he is paid to do. Not all hits are pretty, not all results are fair. The bottom line is he kept his arms down, feet on the ground and didn't target his head. He came through clean. The "charging" penalty is bogus on top of it. Its why the league won't even review it, because nothing illegal happen on the play or "plays."
Stop being a Puss the game is mean to be played for 60 minutes and I applaud Gudas for doing it.
And to answer your question my response would be the same if it was a Flyer skating with his head down. Similar to Briere getting rocked by the Penguins with under 5 to go a few years ago.

Devils and Rags on the weekend schedule Hammar. You ready to acquire 4 points!? - PLindbergh31
Im worried if we do collect four points hextal might do a trade to get better for the playoffs. I just want to hold the course and gain picks/prospects and keep building.

On this we agree. He's an "I'll hit anything" type of player...
Taken out of context this sounds bad. No innuendos about his choice of bedmates was intended...

I expect that Hextall will consider and likely pull the trigger on some deals before the trade deadline. But I don't expect him to give up our young guns without something sizable in return. He's been consistent in backing up his message of building for the future so I'm not really that worried about a knee jerk trade for this season's playoffs. I think everyone realizes that even if we do make them we aren't going deep.
