Maybe that's a good thing?...perhaps they'll allow another compliance buyout!! - landros 2
I think they would have to allow one at the very least. A few teams would otherwise have to make some very bad trades to get cap compliant.
If the cap drops by 4mil but we get to buyout AMac that's still a win for us. |

You guys are far too harsh with the modding here and that instance is a perfect example. That's as pg as it gets.

It's more like ~30%, but yeah... still an outsized proportion. The Rogers TV deal is paid out in Canadian dollars too... so yeah... the league is in a tough spot. |

Probably not.
Teams that are at/above the cap, and players without contracts would just be screwed. |

Even better that the Flyers are now in a good spot cap wise. Umberger can always be bought out if they want to do things this offseason, even with the cap going down, if it does.
What a time to be (arguably) alive. |

Oh Funloser you're being called out by Me! You can take your cheap shot artist Gudas and stick him up where the sun doesn't shine.
Oh by the way Foligno scored twice tonight against Montreal.
You owe an apology to the Folignos and a slap in the face to yourself.
Oh and enjoy losing for the forseeable future.
I guarantee you the Sabres will be the better team for the next decade. - mattsox

Yeah, it'll be a nice climate for a team like the Flyers who are basically only looking to add more high-value stop-gaps... there will only be more MDZs and Neuvirths out there if the cap drops. |

A salary retained AMac would look awesome to teams too....
Flyers don't need to sign any big free agents -- call some kiddies up, sign another low risk, high reward player(s), and see what happens. Though I am interested in Demers if the Flyers pursue any mid range FAs. |

I'd be interested in bringing Coburn back, at a reasonable number. |

I wouldn't be opposed, and idk if he's being used great in Tampa, but his underlying numbers are not so hot...and he's basically the bottom pair guy in difficulty of minutes. Perhaps at 31 he is slipping a bit? I worry that he will ask for too many years and money. Last big contract. Though as recently as with the Flyers last year he was a great shutdown guy, so it could very well be other factors at play.
Demers will be 28 this summer, is firmly entrenched in Dallas's top 4 (he's pretty much carrying Oduya on that pair), and he's seeing as difficult minutes as anyone. Great underlying numbers for several years now. If I'm looking to give a 4+ year deal to someone, he has my eye. Especially bc he's righty and a good age. |

Assuming he falls through the cracks in UFA due to the past year not going well, and they can get him on favorable terms. No interest at all in giving him a retirement contract. 2-years, ~$4M/per, max.

Yeah I mean of course that deal sounds good. I just have a feeling some team not near the cap would offer more term. |
