Okay, still haven't seen the Gudas hit but I'm just about to render my opinion. I need to know something first.

Did Gudas leave his feet?

- Scoob

Nah

I think there might be a good of it in the last thread? Take a look... I can't exactly remember to be honest

When kronwall hits people, they're not on a knee.

Whats his face couldn't even have gotten out of the way to protect himself because I think it was VDV had him tangled up.

Man you people are RUTHLESS. Let's bring Stevens back while we're at it.

- Giroux_Is_God

See he didn't stick out his knee.

When your oing for the hit and the other player tries to avoid it then sometimes it looks bad.

Gudas doesn't move from the path of his hit or stick out a knee. Foligno tries to move and that's what makes it look the way it did.

He jumped 5 feet in the air, screamed something in caveman language, then managed to knock over the Buffalo player by kicking him in the head.

Instant decapitation. Put him in Azkaban.

You're making up your own rules.

The actual NHL rulebook says that a full body check that makes contact with the head is legal if "the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable".

- Feanor

Again. This now the third time you'll hear this.

Mononoke said it first last night.
I said it again today.

I don't think that rule is applicable in this situation since the player assumed his position for a good 3-4 seconds prior to being hit. That means gudas had time.

That rule I believe is applicable when a player for example turns his back to hit last second and flies head first into the boards

Kronwall got suspended for launching into Kucherov just last year.

Nahh, honestly I get some of the frustration. If that was Giroux being hit we would be annoyed.

Personally I just like that the team actually has a guy that can bring a punishing brand of hockey consistently. So tired of seeing them being pushed around, and play emotionless for the last few years. Could he be smarter? Sure.

Still love Gudas.

Time has nothing to do with subsection (ii). You are getting it confused with subsection (iii). Read the actual rules, instead of coming up with your own.

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an
opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and
such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was
avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be
considered:

(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the
opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor
timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the
body upward or outward.

(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by
assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full
body check unavoidable.

(iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body
or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way
that significantly contributed to the head contact.

I meant the sabre player was (almost) on one knee as he was hit by gudas.

Kronwall is as predatory as they come, especially in playoff time.

Hate to play against him, but would love to have him. Gudas is a turd in the talent department when compared to Kronwall but on a 3rd pair for a stanley cup run? Radko is a good piece.

Part two : who is Catenacci.

Thanks.

I'm on mobile. Now please find me something that outlines the subject of a defensive player or a vulnerable position

Haha thanks

Look I'm not saying it was a smart play, but catenacci decided it was a good idea to lunge for the pick like that to try to keep it within his possession.

Fascinating. Tell me how this is even in the same universe as the gudas hit.

Kucherov wasn't lunging or tangled up with another player.
Gudas didn't leave his feet.

Or we could not steam roll a guy who's head is at bj height.

Wtf guys. Are you kidding?

- Giroux_Is_God

So if guys skate around and squat when a guy is coming their way, should it be a penalty on the hitter? Hell, Ovechkin had a much dirtier hit on Simmonds last week when Simmonds was on his knees and no penalty was called. He hip checked simmonds head into the side wall.

The guy reached down. Thats his fault. If there is ANY area on the ice that you shouldnt do that... its right there. Now if he had fallen over... different story. He put himself in a bad spot.

Sabres can cry about it.

Irrelevant franchise that has only its rich owner going for it.

I like what that blogger for Buffalo put up. "Gudas, another philly goon" or something like it. Keep fishing for those hits son.
