So, is there anybody here that can verify Garth's credentials? A quote from his new blog: "I commented that the Eichel-Bailey chemistry was unmistakable from my press box vantage point."

I find it hard to believe that a complete unrespected blogger like Garth, who writes for a website like hockeybuzz which is no big dog in the sports media world (No disrespect to the site) has a press pass for the Sabres. I have always read his blogs and he tends to talk about chumming it up with players at the arena, yet I've never seen any proof of such things taking place, never any mention of him by anyone. He writes about other teams scouts being at our games, and usually you can find a tweeter feed from a legit sports writer mentioning the scouts several hours earlier, and it seems like he's just parroting it.

Good post Ion.

I'm not sure on Drouin and I haven't heard Buffalo is in on this guy to begin with. He's super talented but sometimes that doesn't translate to a productive NHL player. Any team that trades for him will be taking a flyer. If we're looking for a winger take Laine at the draft and plug him in as opposed to trading pieces for Drouin.

Trading Girgs would be a huge mistake imo and I wouldn't think twice about moving Ennis but I don't see him traded till the off season. I would offer McGinn 4 years at 4 per. I love the way this guy plays and he would be a valuable piece moving forward. He could be a good influence on the kids like Bailey, Baptiste and Fasching.

Then there's Stamkos. I'm of the opinion that Pegula wants him bad but in the end I don't see him here.

The thing about signing McGinn (I do like him btw) is that it likely keeps one of the kids u mention that he could help off the roster

Gionta is gone after next year, but barring unforeseen trades we'll have...
O'Reilly, Eichel, Reinhart, Girgensons, Kane, (this year's draft pick, probably), Ennis, Larsson, Foligno, Deslauriers & probably Schaller (slots in as 4th line center), plus Moulson bc i think we won't be able to get rid of his contract

That's 12 right there

Do we go after Stamkos? If we do, there's no way we pay McGinn
But even if not,
McGinn would make 13 forwards
I think there's other guys we can start to depend on for leadership
O'Reilly seems an obvious choice as our next Captain
Girgensons, Reinhart, even Deslauriers & Foligno to an extent
Schaller plays the game the right way with all kinds of effort
Although Moulson stopped scoring, I doubt he stopped being a good guy in the room

I wouldn't hate bringing McGinn back,
But I think is rather use that $$$ a different way
And I don't wanna hold a guy like Bailey back even an extra year or 2, let alone 4

I haven't looked at general fanager to see what Moulson's buy out would be. We do not know what the cap will be in a few years when we need to re-sign Eichel and others but if you front load McGinn's new deal it won't be an issue.

You don't want McGinn, I do. We'll need character guys like 88. I remember in the 70's when the Sabres were building toward their Cup run in '75 they had great character guys like Dudley and Spencer. You could see 40 years ago isn't relatable today but it is. We'll need Jamie McGinn.

Why do ppl keep Talking like "frontloading a contract" makes ANY difference at all when it comes to resigning other guys?

The cap hit for McGinn will be the same EVERY year,
No matter how the contract is structured

What Amazes me is that Some hockey fans love the Tough play until one of their own get hit.(See Patrick Kaleta) I remember Sabre's Fans yucking it and telling other fans to quit crying when that cheap shot artist Barnaby Played, my God, or Rob Ray anyone? Hypocrit much? Gudas is not a Flyer Prospect and has always played with an edge. The Writers Bias peeks through in this article. Im not if he's still upset about the LeClair Playoff Goal or the Briere signing but there is more here than a kid getting a lesson and taking a hit with his head down. News Flash, Flyer Way that won 2 Cups happened over 40 years ago, get over it!! The game has changed, so has the way we look at players like Scott Stevens, So have the Flyers, All teams have guys that play on the edge and probably always will. Heaven forbid somebody take a hard hit in sport like Ice Hockey. The real issue for Buffalo fans is that despite throwing your bank book at the Supposed,"Best Coach" in Hockey and despite tanking to grab Eichel the team still leaves much to be desired; be upset about that. The FLyers have their own issues, they don't need to push back Vs outdated labels.

Tough to play against should not include at least 4 illegal hits in 3 months, mainly from behind.

Nor should it include headhunters, but Kaleta is in the AHL, where Gudas' ass should be.
