Again, Shelley and Cote were fighters, not cheap shot artists like Carcillo/Rinaldo. - jmatchett383
And Ott and Weber are NEITHER of those...
not fighters or cheap shot artists. I was very confused on why you were using them in your example of comparables I believe?
Weber likes to lose fights often and Ott is a VERY skilled player that is a 2 way forward. Barely cheap in any regard. |

See 2007 Flyers.
Worst team in the league by like 17 points. Kane goes to the Hawks and beats the Flyers in OT to win the cup ON PHILLY ICE!! - jak521
Ahhhh that was the reference.. I had missed it.
Yikes.. yea. That is bad.
I still LOVE Eichel as he is a two way player and brings other skills but McDavid's scoring premise is amazing. It is like he can just do whatever he wants
Then again... THIS WAS AGAINST THE LAUGHS last night who are without like 8 of their regular starters including Phanuef, Lupol, Kadri, JVR, Cowen, and Greening that they got in the trade. |

I agree. But if you're going to lump fighters like Shelley and Cote in with cheap guys like Carcillo and Rinaldo, then I can do the same to Ott and Weber. That's why I used them.
Shelley and Cote were awful hockey players who existed to do nothing but fight and hit. But aside from 1 4-gamer for Cote, I don't remember him doing much cheap stuff. |

Its the nhl. Keep ur head up and he wouldve seen gudas. Admitedly gudas plays on the line and has indeed crossed that line in the past. But this hit on the rookie was not dirty.
Its like a self induced suicide pass when you skate up ice with your head down. |

How can you keep your head up when you're bent over trying to keep control of the puck while tied up with a backchecking forward? This wasn't a guy cutting across the middle. |

To make it even worse... after the trade it was like we had a badddd season (worst in the history of the franchise) and we got Lukle Schenn for it. |

I think we missed eachother's meanings.
I was referencing all of those guys just as the goons AND cheap shot artists that Philly has had over the past decade when someone had said that besides Carbomb and Rinaldo they couldn't think of any other goons/cheap shot guys.
When you brought up Ott and Weber I thought you were calling them in the goon/cheap shot artist group which is not true for them.
Oh well.
We suck... but have promising talents... Philly got TREMENDOUS play from Mason last night... beat us handidly. A Hit took place that we didn't appreciate on an already injured team.
We will pick top 5 almost guaranteed. Hopefully top 3... and fight another year. |

No, it was just me and the OP having a difference of opinion of what a "goon" was. That's all.
Anyway, both team shave checkered players in their past, and both teams are in a transitional stage right now. Move on to the next one. |

The guy has a patented hit that he does so often that its got its own nickname. That its a hit that always has bad results for the receiving player. |

So you are saying that both of these players have found legal ways to hit players that almost always put them at serious risk for injury and you don't see a problem with that? |

I didn't realize that right now with Buffalo having played 55 games and having 48 points... even though it is not the least points in the NHL but wiht games in hand it is.
Right now.. we have the highest odds of 20% of winning the NHL draft... which will most likely go to EDM any way.
EDIT: Very first attempt at the lottery simulator and.....

I think his point was that, for all of Kronwall's "Kronwalled" hits, they NHL has only suspended him once. |

Oh alright... i get ya. Out of curiosity though have there been any others that have been borderline like this?
Cause again my issue isnt so much with the actual hit itself, my issue is that Cat is clearly from the time Gudas looks at him till he hits him pretty much defenseless as he's clearly tied up with someone else |

You said that coming on here is enough of a brain cell dump that you don't do it.. haha.
It is depressing.
I ran it 22 times and Buffalo won 6, TB won 5, EDM won 4, WPG won 4, and PHX won 3. |

Gudas has been walking the line lately. Not like this one, but just several questionable ones (one got him 5 and a game last week) and he's had a reckless stick lately, too. Started off with some good, hard hits, but has been a lot more reckless the past few weeks. |
