I guarantee that McGinn will get more than $3.1m / year AAV, and that example of 5+2.5+2.5+2.5 cannot happen, price can only drop 10% each year.

? Haven't seen that in the CBA

The lowest year’s compensation (Salary and Bonuses) cannot be less than 50% of the highest year’s compensation (Salary and Bonuses) of the SPC. For example, if in the highest year’s compensation (Salary and Bonuses) of a Player’s SPC, he earns $10 million in total compensation (Salary and Bonuses), he may never earn less than $5 million in any single year during the term of his SPC.

Kopitars most recent contract has a drop from 11 mil to 8.

For a right handed shot on defense, would you rather see the Sabres sign Yandle or Demers?

Yandle's a lefty. Id prefer him over Demers but tbh at the price they'll want I don't want either anymore.

Demers, because he should be cheaper, right?

Don't like Yandle enough for $7+ / year

Yandle would be pricey but him being at 30 would make the term shorter...you would think

He's never struck me as a top pairing guy and I'd prefer a lefty anyways. I mean id take him over Bogo if they decided to move him, otherwise I think they should think bigger.

Demers is basically just a better Cody Franson. Yandle is a legit top pairing guy, but his price and term may cost us down the road, if he was even interested in signing with Buffalo.

I think their best bet is still the trade route at the draft. Im not crazy about giving up our 2016 1st rounder but I dont want to take any chances with our top pair.Bring in a guy you have no doubts about (especially defensively) and you can stomach moving that pick (thought you may not even have to).

He'll get a 6/7 year deal somewhere in the 6.5-7.2 range per.

The trouble is, what legit top pairing defenseman is getting traded? I can't think of any that would be on the market unless we overpaid.

I think if Yandle is interested we might just have to bite the bullet and make a move for now and worry about the repercussions when they come.

We will have to, but this is the kind of player you overpay for.

Lindholm, Shattenkirk and even Vlasic could all be options. (first one less likely after the lemieux thing but you never know)

A lot can change between now and draft day too, who knows what becomes available.

Seeing Risto's offensive side this year makes me think a defensive-defensemen is the way to go.

I'd rather overpay for Yandle and keep our pick this year than trade it for a better/younger top pairing guy. This also depends on who is available at our pick, but I'd rather add two possible impact players than one.

I like Lindholm but he's the best of Anaheim's young D, he would be the last guy I trade if I were them.

Internal budget may force there hand if he asks for a lot. They have 2 good (cheap) d-men who are close as well in Theodore and Montour. Probably re-sign vatanen and move lindholm for forward help.

Unless he negotiates his way out of town with big contract demands, but I think he'll be a Duck for a long time. He's also just what the doctor ordered as far as Sabres needs, young, lefty, more defensively oriented.

Yandle is a #3 that thinks he is a top 2. I think his price tag won't match his value.

If I were them I'd trade Vatanen and bring Montour up in his place. Vatanen is more of an offensive guy and is usually in a very sheltered role.

I would too but if Vatanen is ok with taking a cap friendly deal and Lindholm gets you that forward/high pick....

Would you give up Puljujarvi or Laine for Lindholm though?
