Dunno if the Hawks would do TT + Danault for Patch, but I'm not sure it's a terrible hockey trade when you consider the positive domino effect on the Hawk lineup AND Kruger likely coming back.
TT + Pokka + a pick is to me a good deal for the Hawks. - John Jaeckel
Danault + Pokka + a pick is to me a good deal for the Hawks too if Bergy wants that.
TT + Danault is not that good at this time. Over the summer I would really contemplate it, but right now it's probably not in the cards as it would be losing 2 valuable rostered players, or are they trying to hide Dano?? |

Ok everyone needs to take a deep breath and eat one of these:
You guys are suffering from:

I would suggest 3 recent cups are NOT a delusion...
...but staying on top can cause a bit of hysteria. |

From source just now:
First move may be a deal that does not require Kruger going on LTIR. Later, if necessary, precursor moves BEFORE putting Kruger on LTIR could happen.
Hawks are trying to pull off something big and complicated. "LOTS GOING ON, STAY TUNED" - John Jaeckel

As long as Svedberg is not part of any trade and I don't think the hawks are showcasing him. Sved has earned his playing time and continues to improve
If a team wants a defensive prospect give up pokka
Svedberg is a good stay at home defenseman with high hockey IQ that is slowly developing due to his size. |

They'd love Anisimov, but that's not going to happen...just look a little lower down the lineup card... - MexicoHawk

Not sure how the money would work, but 27 yo Patch at LW for 4.5M per thru 2018-19 would lead me to say...
...winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

On Patch:
I have not heard his name mentioned. I AM hearing lots of Montreal chatter right now re: the Hawks.
Patch fits the bill perfectly. Young, fast, skilled, left winger with size and at a reasonable cost certainty going forward.
If there is anything here, you can bet either TT and/or Schmaltz + is gone. - John Jaeckel
Id do this in a heartbeat and drive TT to the airport, although a strong breeze could probably get him to Montreal anyway |

I am seriously doubting that Patch is available at all. He is the Montreal captain, very young, and also a bargain in terms of salary. I realize the Habs are really playing badly right now, but fact of the matter their best player has been hurt practically all season except for the first month. Look where the Canadiens were when Price was healthy, they sat alone at the top of the NHL standings. I don't see Bergevin blowing things up IMO, but will have to bite the bullet until next year when Price is healthy once again. |

I agree. I feel you can "lose the trade" by overpaying a bit. Keeping the top 2 lines would be amazing.

Question is, would patch have a negative effect on resigning the likes of: Kruger, Shaw, Panarin |

I dont know how that top 6 would even be stoppable for any playoff team short of injury |

Would love for Patch, but doubt it. Now Galchenyuk or Emelin seem much more likely to me. Would love for Galchenyuk to be our 3rd Center- damn. Easily send teets that way with Gal coming back. Emelin would be a sweet bottom pairing guy who plays tough.
I've said before Fleischmann would be a great depth LW IMO and better than Versteeg for a similar low price and lower cap hit.
I'd rather see Ladd or Staal at rental prices than Skinner with all the moving parts. |

The cap situation they are in now already makes thinking about next year the wrong path to follow.
Win now, worry about next year next year. |

French Connection would be a selling point fans up there could feel good about, so my guess would be 24 |

Can hawks just release Scuderi? What are the cap implications of that? Or do they want him in rcf as injury insurance policy...we all know last year they went 8-9 deep on the dmen chart. |

Agreed. Just had to bring that thought up though. |

Getting Kruger back, replacing Shaw on 1 makes the bottom 6 (barring trades): Kruger, Desi, Shaw, Danault, TT, Ras.
Essentially the same as last year, except swap Ras for Sharp, Danault for Vermette. Good, not as good as last year. THAT'S how important it is to get Shaw back in the bottom 6. - John Jaeckel
I concur. That makes the bottom six quite formidable. Even if they cant score they ought to be able to carry play and keep the puck at the other end of the ice. |

The true story is every time the Hawks have won the Cup they have had the best bottom six forwards. Scoring aside that was the case especially so in the later series.
The season the 3rd and 4th lines have not been in sync over much of the season. - Al
Agreed--- Hopefully once the trade deadline clears and any additions / subtractions are made-- The Hawks can start to get a constant 3 - 4 lines up and rolling 4 lines-- |

If it is something complicated as JJ mentioned earlier does Drouin wind up in Montreal and Max P here? |

If that's your top 2 lines panarin then shaw with Kruger first to go if they can't afford all three |

Patch is fun to think about, but I really doubt Montreal would "blow up" the program right now.
Besides, wouldn't they be in the market for a goaltender? |
