Even if you could, you couldn't tell how much time was left on penalties on those old scoreboard clocks.
You also couldn't hear/understand the public address system from the balconies, especially the first balcony. - StLBravesFan
Yeah, but it was Harvey Wittenburg. What a classic public address voice. And not no be nasty, people thing Gene Honda is good?
Please. |

Thanks JJ good stuff.
Interesting you say DLR. Does he project as a top or bottom 6? - 93Joe
DLR has been in the AHL for the Habs almost the entire year. He has regressed season. Still a talent but he doesn't help the Hawks this season if acquired. |

Our seats were on the bend, just to the right of the organ. There will never be another place as good to watch a game as the old Stadium.
Count me as another "old timer" who is not even remotely offended about the old-timers game. Some people just love to get riled up about meaningless stuff. I'm sure the refs will call the game in favor of the Minnesota team. Alumni Game parity! - Hank_Greenberg

You knew it was going to be a mess on a sunday night against Boston or Philly after a Bears home game that afternoon. - 6628
The box seats were not single, somehow connected in threes or fours.
After one Bear game "celebration after dsome guy jumped on the ice with a pennant, and slipped three steps in, he was thrown out and I gues it angered his compatriots so they throw the connected chairs onto the ice.
That was the growing up memeory that made me realize once they took my ticket I could always be close to the edge with my frenzy...because there were always gonna be some drunken guys attempting far worse.... |

No one fives a (frank) about the Alumni game.
The Wild probably dont have enough alumni for the game.
Lots of folk in Minnesota love the Northstars old timers.
Ita about the $ man - mrpaulish
They do still love the North Stars in MSP. It's one of the reasons the Wild retained green as a primary color, although a different shade.
At the Wild store in the MOA, you can also get sweaters from the North Stars, Fighting Saints (WHA, great crest & colors), and U of M Golden Gophers, as well as a few other NCAA programs in the state.
They love it all in the State of Hockey. |

I was at MOA in 2012 ...... Tons of Wild apparel , but it was dwarfed by all the Gophers Hockey appareal. Omfg everything was Maroon and Gold.

Keep flooding the market with rental forwards even if they are not actually available it will bring the asking price down for who the Hawks acquire - molly2522
Supposedly Calgary expectd to only get a 3rd or a late 2nd for Hudler.
and the Cap and the talk that the Cap may shrink over 2 mil more has the returns on the guys available down comared to the crazy returns that sometime happen.
Whomever any team gets, figure they have to have the Cap space for one quarter of their cap hit.

Yes, they do love NCAA hockey up there. Gophers are #1, but a lot of programs up there, including quite a few D3 schools icing mostly home grown talent.
And the HS tourney is like HS football in Texas. everyone supports their home town team. |

I think I remember you saying you used to sit under the press box. There were a lot of loud guys down there - 6628
Yup about ten seast from the center of the net in section M.
I learned from the best screamers there.
and as far as smoke, the older guys my Father entrusted me to were cigar smokers INSIDE as well as in the curve underneath.
One time around Christmas Murray Balfour (the original Million Dollar baby line with Billy Hay & Bobby Hull) was injured so he came down from the press box to smoke his cigar and he was telling the Sciola brother (my "guardians") how much he paid for the sweater he had one...and they told him the saw the same on at Zayre's for 5 bucks...
I was pretty lucky because they knew Emile Patrick King Clancy even met that crazy Harold Ballard because there was no secret / safe passageways to get to the press box...like all the arenas parks have now.

All those Teams are looking to add for a Playoff Run. Especially the Kings since Gaborik is out. I'm just as confident in our team as you are but by no reason should this front office stand pat. What type of message are you sending to the players. Make a trade to address your important need(s) damn the cap win NOW and send that message to players in the dressing room. - BGKarras
I agree we should add. We have the cap space, it would be foolish to stand pat. |

Alumni game is on CSN Saturday at 4 - Sundevil
Really thrilled they're carrying the game...my buddy next door is from Minni a big No Stars fan from way back. There's still a lot of bad blood up there for how ownership screwed those folks by ripping that team away from a loyal and caring fanbase.
And while several folks have said this game doesn't matter I totally disagree...
Those guys were warriors and its nice to see them get a chance to get out there.
Just sad we won't have 20 18 28 out there...Savvy is going to play and mentioned Modano is as well and said Daze better cover him. To which Troy Murray said' I'll shadow him'.
Don't know if this has been posted yet...but enjoy...

As far as Larmer he should be in the Hall and have his sweater retired here - disgrace that it isn't already. His games streak should have been longer, but ask Bob Pulford about that.

This is correct. I see him as a bottom 6 player he's physical and plays more of a defensive game. |

Pat alluded to this on the broadcast Monday. He named names, Mr. Pulford.
(Wow we lived through some poopty hockey ownership.)
