Washington is close to being on pace for the most points ever in a season. The record is 132 by Montreal in 76/77. The Caps are at 128 now. Amazing that Montreal got 132 points in 80 games.
Gotta think the Caps are the favorites for the Cup at this point, right? They make a few moves to solidify the roster at the deadline and watch out. |

I still think he re-signs with Lightning. - mhp
Unless yzerman creates some unforgivable rift i dont see why he wouldnt. If its cooper that is the problem he would be canned eventually. Unless yzerman is that stupid.
Maybe stamkos just wants out of there. Its possible |

If Stamkos goes to free agency it will be a fun summer. |

Id love to watch the frenzy loser leaf fans would get into and have stamkos sign elsewhere. Signing here would be a cherry on top |

My money is still on Anaheim. I just don't even see how he would fit in here unless he or ROR were on the wing which both of them VEHEMENTLY said they don't want to be EVER. - JVince11
When ROR scores 30 goals in a season, no check has multiple 30 goals seasons, then he can vehemently express not wanting to play wing. Stamkos, a proven multiple 30+, 50+ scorer, I can understand.
That fact is, if ROR had to play wing with Stamkos at center and say, Reinhart (or maybe even another top 5 pick) on the opposite wing with a D-man like Risto on the point, I can think of a lot worse situations to be in. He'd put up multiple 30 goals playing wing in that instance |

Would love nothing more. They are poised for a big summer though, like us last year. A big trade and pick and it could become to enticing for stamkos to ignore (that and the fact that it's home) |

I'd love Stamkos as well but if he's getting 10+ a year you have to worry about our cap when Eichel and Reinhart get new deals in 2018.

Idk, is there a player the caliber of oreilly that is clearly on the outs like that to be traded? Plus we added eichel and mcginn(who knows if he stays), for all intents and purposes kane in the offseason too.
The high pick will help, but they just traded their best defender. The pick wont be eichel caliber unless its matthews and who even knows there. Babcock being the coach is surely convincing. I think the best thing they have going is nylander and a solid group of prospects behind him. None of them have NHL experience though.
I think there are more reasons not to go to toronto. Not to mention he and his albatross contract will get shredded in that city within a year, two tops when they arent winning and going deep in the playoffs. |

I agree. I wouldnt complain if he signed here obviously, because people get paid alot to figure that stuff out.
It would just be great to smash that down leaf fans throats at every opportunity |

Sirius NHL had the Avs writer on there and he said a few interesting things...
Said Mack will be a 7-7.5M guy next year.
Said they had a deal for Seth Jones fall thru before CLB swooped in.
Said Grigo and Duchene play great together and that Grigo will be a top flight 2C in this league in his career |

Either we get a free agent RW to slot in with Eichel and Kane or as stripes has, draft Laine and work him in there.
We might trade Ennis and Foligno, who knows.
edit- didn't Purcell play with Stamkos in TB? And he would be 4th in points for us this year. |

So the Stamkos thing, I read that they tried to trade him last year (maybe during the summer, for Eichel?) and Stamkos was not happy and if they don't pony up way more money, I think he will Bolt (get it, lol).
As for him and Sabres, I am a homer, so I do think the Sabres are on his short list. Stamkos should care about the future young stars on landing team, which Sabres of course have.
Also, Stamkos agent is same as Kane and O'reilly. Does not mean tons, but we do have discussions with his (at the very least in the recent past) and should be putting a bug in his ear about signing Stamkos.
All that and if we make one more splash in a trade, I think it will be really tough for him to not consider Buffalo. |

FWIW, the Presidents' Trophy has been around since 85-86. Since then only eight teams have won both the Presidents' Trophy and the Stanley Cup. I hope that trend prevails again, unless a team I don't dislike ends up winning it somehow. |

Phaneuf wasn't even their 2nd best defender. Drafted Marner last year too and Andrew Nielsen is doing really well in the WHL.
There may very well be more reasons not too go but the big ones are "nice city and my city" it is in fact home for him. Both of those will be a major factor on July 1st. |

Maybe Moulson puts himself to use and convinces okposo to sign with the sabres? Almost makes up for the contract right? |
