Provorov and Werenski were jumping ahead of Hanifin at times last year too, yet Hanifin went 1st as expected. If Chychrun is there I'd rather take him than end up with a Vatanen or Shattenkirk (who I really like) - sbroads24
At times, though most still had hanifin as the best d-man.
Chychrun has been on a steady decline, he was #2 on the board at one point.
Now plenty of people saying that he's not even the best d-man in the draft.
Chychrun at best might be as good as shattenkirk one day, I'll take shattenkirk or Lindholm over him any day. |

Does anyone else have a bad feeling about Sunday's game? Whenever we play the Penguins during the day on the weekend we always get killed. |

I found this kind of interesting today. Rob Ray is on GR and they asked him aside from the ufa's what players he thought would be traded at the deadline. He said Larsson, Franson and maybe Foligno. Isn't that what 39 posted recently? Hmm. - mhp
Hmmm not bad,ray better stop reading my posts . That's bullpoop,he is stealing my info |

Juolevi has jumped chychrun on quite a few mock drafts but truth is they are both wild cards and perhaps at least 1 year away.
For me it's Matthews, 2 Finns, Tkachuk or trade the pick. They have to come out of this draft with a core/elite player. Nylanders of the world won't cut it. - Sabresfan-365
Nylander looks pretty good and if for some reason we end up picking 5th or 6th and we go with the top defenceman I'm fine with that too. Only way I'm trading out of those two spots is if we are getting a guy whose all ready an NHL defenceman or ready to be this year and is expected to be a top pairing guy on the left side. No exception. Anything else won't be worth it considering. |

100% agreed. That's what i think they should target with that pick. |

This happens to almost every prospect that has been highly touted for a while. Scouts always look for the next best thing.
By the draft I'd be willing to bet he's the top rated D man |

There's just something about him that would make me stay away (though I can't really imagine being truly upset if they picked him).
Edit: probably a moot point, can't see him falling past Edmonton (or rather shouldn't) |

Only thing that scared me about him is TSN compared him to Bogosian.. |

If Edmonton ends up picking in the top four or definitely top three I can't see them reaching on a D. They'd probably trade down or trade the pick for a defenceman. |

Unless they don't think it's a reach. But Im with you, I do think they'll trade the pick. I think both the sabres and oilers might. Definitely have the GM's for it. |

Yea that was kind of weird, not exactly a rousing endorsement. Im sure his agent was thrilled |

The way I look at it, early on at least. Matthews, two fins and Tkachuk are worth taking over any D not in the top 20 in the NHL. Ditto for Buffalo and Edmonton. Edmonton could trade down plausibly from top four but I bet it would acquire even higher of a player coming back considering the top four seem to be at a little higher level |

Agreed but that's kind of who I have in mind. If you're going to trade a top 5/10 pick you better be getting someone you have little to no doubt about. |

I think the top four require an even higher player than 5 or 6 5 where you're getting Nylander or the top D both of whom should be very good players but don't seem (as far as I know) to have a superstar level build up that the top 4 have. So if you're trading top 4 pick should be for someone like OEL or Subban. Not that those players are available just the caliber it would require. Whereas 5 or 6th pick you could trade for someone like the Ducks top D prospect or Shattenkirk |

He looks so high. Look how big his pupils are; especially with a bright light in his face seems odd. I haven't seen a ton of interviews with him, especially post-game, but he still seemed really wound up, and he was licking his lips a lot too. 15 times in a 2 minute interview. I don't know, maybe he has chapped lips or something.
Edit: Just watched the McGinn interview and his pupils are really dilated too, maybe it's just the room. Still Lehner seems a little off. |

I think he's just really, really intense. Remember him saying he loves Swedish death metal music and we know he's an aggressive guy. Probably get's a high out of getting wound up and engaging in contact with opposing team. |

"Just as the NHL has no business in Arizona, according to a rabid Canadian fan-base, it just doesn't seem right that a Canadian team should have to draft a player who's hockey roots are in Arizona"
Is that a (frank)ing joke? How about all the Canadian teams take their Canadian players back from American teams then and see how that stacks out. No Crosby to save the pooptsburgh franchise, no toews or Keith or seabrook in Chicago, etc. |

I'm not sure what it is about Scandinavia, and Europe in general, but they love their metal. A lot of good bands out of Sweden and Norway. If you like that kind of music that is. |

I think the difference lies in the opinion of who we're acquiring. You have Shattenkirk and assuming Linholm on a lower tier than OEL and Subban , I do not. I think Lindholm is well on his way to being one of the best defensive d-man in the game (if not already) and Shattenkirk has been one of the most underrated #1's in the game. Would I prefer OEL or Subban? Absolutely, but I don't think the gap between them and Lindholm/Shattenkirk is enough that I would automatically say no to trading say pick no.4 for either. |

Thanks. I remember having to close my browser because of an ad, and guess I forgot to finish the article. I can't tell if Pach's just being facetious or not. It seems like he is though. |

I was wondering what happened to all the pre and post-game interviews. Didn't know they'd been moved to NHL.com |
