Cal Petersen is having quite a year at ND. Gotta think he is our #1 goalie prospect at this point. Is he ahead of Ullmark? Will Petersen be in Roch next year? Makarov will be gone and not sold on Lieuwen to be back.

Kasdorf having a good year too.

I love how Cal has played for ND, especially considering they are young team still. They weren't even ranked to start the year and now they are 7th I believe. He definitely has the look of a future starter in the NHL but hard to tell with goalies.
- doppelthat

I've only seen him a little bit but he seems to have all the tools to be a top tier NHL goalie. A year or two in Roch for his development will be key.

We could see Kasdorf and Petersen in Roch next year and Ullmark will back up Sugar Ray Lehner.

It's a simple #'s game.

He's not good enough to be on the top pair. Pysyk and McCabe have at the very least been equal to him so far this year. The two of them combined will probably make less than half of what Bogo is being paid next year.

This is NOT a good post.

Some of you guys have bees under your bonnet for this guy, and can't stop taking glee in every small aspect of his game that you believe merits criticism. At the same time, you ignore quite a bit of steady, and even good play from him.

This phenomenon has a name, and we have discussed it before.

Im not the only one who has this opinion of him any more. The Eye test has many fans changing their tune and the stats have backed McCabe and Pysyk over him all year.

Not to mention that the fact that even if they weren't better yet, it's likely by next year they will have improved their game to a point where it is worth of playing on the 2nd pair. Bogo is never going to be a top pair guy so why bother paying him over 5 mil to do what Pysyk and McCabe can do for you in 16-17 at a fraction of the cost?

And just like the case with another bearded member of this defense corps, said phenomenon does not apply here.

This team will never be a championship contender with Bogosian on it.

If and when the cap becomes more of an issue, and if and when Pysyk and McCabe-whom I love--both put in a full couple seasons of quality play, and if and when we find a partner for Risto, Bogo might become expendible. To get rid of Bogo now without bringing in a true partner for Risto leaves us woefully thin, and all our best D men are barely able to buy beer legally. If and when we start playing playoff hockey you need tough, veteran D men on the back end.
Chopping his salary does almost nothing for the cap, See: Moulson, MAtt.

Wow. Crystal ball syndrome at its finest.

If you are comparing Weber to Bogo, aside from the beards there is very little in common.

Did you see him gift wrap a breakway to start last game? What plays does he ever make on the opposite end of that spectrum?

When they trade McGinn our offense will die and same with our pk when Legwand is gone. We will get that top 3 pick.

I think he could be a valuable member on a team that can go deep in the playoffs.

He's tough and has a pedigree. He was a early 1st rounder for a reason. I think on a good team you'd see him play up to his potential. He's played on poop teams his entire career. Duncan Keith wouldn't look like the same player on this Buffalo team.

Why do you think Lenner saw everything so well last night? Who clears those lanes and that crease? If not any single defender, who sets that tone? Pysyk? McCabe?

Did you see the TWO turnovers Pysyk gift wrapped last night, early in the second and mid-third? The lost battles on the wall, all through the game?

None of these guys are perfect, but all of them make contributions. ALL of them.

It was more in reference to the unnamed "phenomenon" that was referred to.

If the plan is to acquire a top 6 forward and top pairing d-man than it should already be an issue. Key Rfas due for raises over the next few years.

I think all the people wanting the Sabres to pick top-5 are going to be disappointed when they finish 10th in the conference. This team is going to make a run. Their schedule in March is very soft to the tune of 12 of 15 opponents who are not currently in playoff position. Two of the remaining three are just barely wildcard teams, and the best team they play all month is the Rangers at home (not that playing at home has been that helpful this season).
