Not sure what all the hype is about Drouin... He hasn't played in the NHL yet, has been a hold out/malcontent, even refused to play in the AHL, (looks like he did report according to the Syracuse Crunch web page: 7 games played, 3 points and -1). So other than being a high draft pick, what's his claim to fame?

Drouin has played over a full NHL season in his career. He's been actin' a fool, and his overall numbers seem disappointing, but he's actually, in that time span, only behind the Triplets and Stamkos in even strength points per 60 minutes. Kind of like how Laughton's stats are unimpressive until you realize he puts up all those points just at ES and in like 8 min a game. It's fair to think with a legit role he could put up legit points.

That said, I'm not interested if it means giving up a top d man. Which it would I think. They can have their choice of Umberger or MacDonald as the center piece.

So MDZ is out for the rest of the season, and Couturier and Giroux could both play on Tuesday. Ok then.

Drouin has way more potential than Laughts -- wasn't really trying to compare them skill wise, only trying to drive home the point that Drouin has shown promise at this level in limited minutes. The cost for Drouin would absolutely be more than Laughton though. And I'm not big on malcontents at that cost.

Have a problem with Drouin because the way he's handled himself? Fine. Asking what a prospect has accomplished to have value is just plain lame.

By that argument Morin has no value too, right? I mean if that's the way you're going to view prospects around the league then that is how you have to view ours as well.

Dude, chill. There was no sarcasm there. I was genuinely asking about Drouin's abilities. I haven't seen him play and the stats don't show much, so I was hoping someone here knew more about him than me...
