I'd sign him in a second - homiedclown
He is 33 and barely a PPG player in the f'n KHL.
Don't overshoot your britches there.
Devils own his rights I'm sure and even then the owners would have to vote to even let that douche bag back in this league. |

"Wyshynski correctly explained that for him to return to the NHL as a free agent - his contract with the Devils was voided with his voluntary "retirement" - there are only three ways for him to return."
1. All thirty teams would grant permission to return to the NHL. He would be a free agent.
2. Kovalchuk can sit out a year and not play hockey anywhere. After then, only the Devils need to grant his permission to return to the NHL. He would be a free agent.
3. Kovalchuk would wait until he's 35. At that point, he's free to come back without any permission. That would be the 2018-19 season, or two years after the speculated season he's considering leaving the KHL.

I get the feeling the league would have to look at this and figure out how to handle it before any team could sign him. This isn't exactly something we've seen happen a bunch. Other than Radulov, has there really been many players that left to go over there and then come back at some point? What makes this even stickier is the fact that he "Retired." In Radulov's case, he was an RFA, so his rights and contract remained in tact until he fulfilled them. |

Saw that now.... weird...
I wish that all 30 teams wouldn't approve his return because of the way he absolutely poopTED on the CBA and the owners when he abruptly left in the middle of a contract. |

Perhaps. The only person I can think of that was older and left the NHL to go overseas was Jagr, but I'm fairly certain he was a UFA when he decided to go. |

That's the trend. Which makes sense. You don't typically want to let these guys walk for nothing, so even if you can only get a 5th or 6th round pick, it's better than nothing.
The issue that's now popping up, is that when we did it the last 2 years, we got called out for "tanking." - HonkFortheGoose
Sure. What's worse tho, tanking or trying and failing miserably like Edmonton? |

Did a little back reading.
In regards to possibly trading for Skinner...no, hell no in fact. Concusion problems don't just go away. Another one and his career is shot. If anything from all of the CTE research that's being done is concusion problems don't just go away.
The Leafs are in fact "tanking". It doesn't bother me any that their fans that accosted us the last two years for getting behind the tank can't see their own team is doing it because let's face it the Leafs can do no wrong...
McGinn should get the Sabres a 2nd and a prospect at this point. I saw a post I liked McGinn for Bickell a first and a fourth. I would eat Bickell's salary for a year.
Franson for a 3rd (I'm looking at you Dallas)
Johnson for a 4th (any playoff team that has a goaltender injury)
ROR's injury came at a "bad" time. Sell sell sell.
Top 3 pick please. |
