Side note. Not thrilled we're keeping Bailey up here. Would rather send him down before he hits nine games to keep a year on his entry deal.
- bluengold12

I think that 9 game rule only applies to junior players. He is signed to his ELC already and playing in Rochester. This is year one regardless

For those of us that didn't get to watch the game while slaving away at work...how did that young Bailey fellow look? I understand the Sabres didn't play the best of games, but how did he look?

He already went through his ELC slide situation last year, he could play as many or little games in the AHL/NHL and you are correct, this is year 1 regardless

deadline day thought:

if they really are open to moving RFA's like Larsson/Foligno, could package one of them with picks to get Shane Prince. Seems to have fallen out of favour with Dave Cameron.

What is the value of an RFA compared to an UFA? In terms of risk for a team trading for one.

Would an RFA be of higher value/cost because the team holds their rights?

Yes. You control an RFA. No one can sign him unless they put in an offer sheet and the team is a bit more in control than the player in terms of contract and length. If a team really wanted to put an offer sheet on Foligno or Larsson then us or the team we traded them to would likely happily take the high draft picks.

What BnG12 said. Plus they are almost always on the younger side.

Prince is too talented to stay in the press box and we just lost o'reilly for a month. Seems like a good fit.

I understand that, but would an RFA get a higher return than an UFA?

Or am I just over thinking it and it simply depends on the player?

This. I mean if I had to choose between a 3rd liner who is a UFA vs an RFA i'd probably take the RFA unless maybe your up against the cap.

Here we go gang,

Trade; Pysyk, Foligno, and Franson to Pittsburgh, for Olli Maata
.

- Maata and Risto become your top pair moving forward.
- Georges/Bagosian, McCabe/Webber round out an overall young Def-corps.
- For next yr; draft Austin Matthews, and bring back Ennis.

Kane/O'Riley/Austin Mathews
Girgensons/Eichel/Reinhart
Moulson/Ennis/Gionta
Delauriers/Larrson/Bailey

Maata/Risto
Georges/Bagosian
McCabe/Webber

Dang son, now we're talkin!

That's a cupboard stocked with young and budding superstar-grade talent!!!

Send an early 2nd rd pick to Philly for Nuiverth as well..?! O snap!!

We are only 5 pts out from last and thats with having more GP... ROR is now out for a month, mcginn will be traded, and possibly two other current roster guys.

I definitely can see us dropping into 29th in less than 2 weeks.

CUP HALF FULL: this team has helped to forget how bad last year's team played.

CUP HALF EMPTY: today's game felt like last year.

Ennis is under contract so we kind of have to bring him back, and trading doesn't seem wise, since his value is so low.

It doesn't look like Prince has done much at the NHL level so I'm not sure I would move Larsson or Foligno and a pick.

Thanks. The team doesn't release the starters before 7pm on Twitter like a lot of teams do

He hasn't gotten much of chance. The consensus has been he's too good to be sitting in the press box. Moving Larsson/Foligno and a few mid round picks for him is more than worth it.
