So limited no trade (can mean a few things) do you know what his is? (list of 10 teams, ect.) - Lilroot9
My guess is a limited number of teams. |

I am not sure what you are doing with Moulson. Maybe shipping to a team that needs to get to cap floor might do it, but we did not front load the deal (to say the Sabres paid him more $$ early, so last few years have high cap hit, but low actual $ owe to player), so I think this would be a tough sell.
How long until the NHL lets you "change" the cap hit, by signing to a "new" deal and having it average out with current deal (to increase cap hit this year, but lower overall, long term cap hit)? - Lilroot9
I don't think we see something like that in the NHL for a long time. Owners wouldn't push for it, because then you'd get guys under contract that sit out wanting more money. I don't think you'd see the players push for it because they like that their contracts are currently 100% guaranteed. Allowing contracts to be restructured like they can be in the NFL is a long ways off in the NHL, if it ever happens at all. The league just doesn't make enough money overall for it to be something that either side would benefit from. |

Pride in the C I get it... I appreciate it..
NMC.. sure I get it...
But If you knock on his door and say hey... we have a trade that could potentially let you win a cup in Dallas, Anaheim, LA, Chicago, etc.... you would just need to waive to go do it. Your call Brian.
You guys don't think he would??? |

The post you quoted was about Skinner and Ennis.
I have said all along that the NHL should have a more NFL type contract system. - dadeadhead
Sorry, trying to do work and lost my place, haha
Yea I think then you could have the Sabres with cap room this year, to pay Girgensons and Risto and lower overall cap hit, would be nice. |

I suggested a trade involving him. I was called a hater. I'm defending why I would trade him. Simple as that - sbroads24
Dude, really? Everyday, you say something about Bogo, we get it, you dont like him. Everyone that is somewhat of a regular understands you do not like Bogo. There really isnt a need to bring it up daily. |

The players would have to deal with non guaranteed deals and that's a non starter. |

It is not renegotiating an "old" contract, but averaging old cap hit with new contract. (well that is my idea here) |

His last year drops to 3 million, perhaps we could retain 2.5 next year, and in 17/18. Maybe a team such as Arizona would want him for the next three years at 2.5/2.5/3.0. They give us a 5th for him( I really do not care what we would get back) |

You suggested a trade involving a "bad contract" and a "negative useful" player such as Bogosian who was a "4th or 5th dmen".
Its all in the phrasing. Don't play victim now. |

Yea, he may say yes, but that additional year at $4.25 (if traded this year) could be the hold up for teams listed (I know that was your example).
I am saying that he knew what he was coming here for and may say that he wants to finish what he came here to do (finish = end of contract).
He should know the writing on the wall says O'Reilly is taking the C next year and might want to leave before "losing" the C.
Maybe we can work out a trade, where we trade the player now and then get him back "for free" at the end of the year. haha |

ahhh yes the extra year.. I forgot about that part.
That would make more sense for next year then unless we took back some salary ors omething. |

Is that not accurate though? Is there really any evidence to suggest otherwise. Numbers aren't good, advanced numbers aren't good and the eye test has had many fans change their opinion of him. |

I dont have info on his salary changing, but I hope it does decrease like that. (even though cap hit stays)
Also, I dont know (but I am sure you can), can you only take 1/2 his salary (retained) for a select number of years (I thought it was all or nothing) |

Yea, I do hope Murray is asking though, would want him moved whenever we could, although I dont think his play is nearly as bad as Moulson. |

Still nice to see some of the old school guys like u & Vince around
I think it'll be an underwhelming deadline day for us
Prob just move some guys out for picks
I'm ok with that though
Gives us more ammo to make a move or 2 at the draft
And then we'll see how the Stamkos situation plays out
I do think that by the end of next season our team will be about 90% put together with the next "core" intact and growing towards being real contenders |

You can't sign a guy to any type of new contract until 1 calendar year prior to the expiry of their current one, so you'd only get the benefit of 1 year difference. |
