To be fair, there were an awful lot of people on this site 1 year ago saying Cornell was a bust, but he's managed to put together a pretty good season this year. Hurley seems to have turned it around too. I guess we really shouldn't write these players off too soon. I've changed my opinion to give prospects to at least age 23-24 and at least one solid year in the AHL before you can really judge if they may have NHL talent. - sskkoo1
I agree. There's some guys who don't get many points in the minors or Europe league but then turn it on when they get to the AHL/NHL. Cornell has probably been our best prospect this season followed by Olofsson and Guhle and maybe Borgen for how strong he played in the world juniors. |

Totally agree. Some players are late bloomers. Matt Moulson was one. Simmonds was another, kind of. |

Estephan was #8 in league scoring for the WHL before he got hurt. He seems like he could be a nice late-round surprise for us.

Fasching likey our best forward prospect currently. Brycen martin was having a solid year until he was traded. Still have hopes for him |

Forgot about Fasching for a second because I was using hockey DB's site for our prospects and because we didn't draft him he wasn't on there. I'd agree he's our top prospect followed by Cornell. Martin I was excited about but his numbers don't look that great. I'll admit my WHL knowledge isn't that great though so I can't say if he looks that much better besides what his stats say. |

Estephan is another one who looks good. Shame about his injury but I think I remember reading it wasn't as bad as initially feared. |

Ah okay... So Johansson is really far away then because he's still in the Swe-1 league. |

looks that way but it's hard to tell with goalies. his SHL rights are held by Brynas. I think he'll get a shot there next year and depending on how that goes make the move to NA. |

McGinn and Franson (salary retained) for Oleksiak and a first
Also in regards to Weber's comments
It was a good run Weber. We will all remember you for securing us Eichel

Do the stars really need mcginn? seem to be doing alright up front. Ditto Franson, they've got the 6th best powerplay. |

Right but Im not sure they'll pay a 1st and Oleksiak for it. That duo makes a lot more sense for the panthers.
McGinn becomes an instant upgrade in their bottom 6, especially next to bjugstad. And they've got the third worst PP in the league, enter Franson.
Edit: Could work with Dallas if we took Hemsky back (4 mil cap hit next year). |

Should be interesting . Now with ROR out till the end of March. That top 3 pick seems like it just might happen. |

I know this is a long shot but just for fun if we win the lottery and therfore draft Matthews. Is he a clear cut center like Eichel or is he a Center/winger who plays both positions frequently? If he's just center we'd have to do some position changes or major trades.. Center depth would otherwise look like
Eichel
Matthews
O'Riley
Reinhart
Girgensons
Those players besides Z all are automatic top 6. |

Fingers crossed. I'm going into it expecting to pick 5th or 6th so hopefully I won't be as disappointed when it happens. |
