While this trade looks weird at first maybe everyone should let this play out a bit before losing their minds.

This might be setting the table for something else in the next week. While Shinkaruk is ding very well in the AHL, he still has not done anything in the NHL. Lets see what Granlund does in Vancouver before freaking out.

I don't think Granlund is a bust by any means, but once again i'm left wondering the timing/purpose of this deal.

It demonstrates a few very perplexing issues.

1. This move echoes a playoff push (attempting to mitigate injuries) which does not bod well for the likes of being sellers, i.e Shipping off Vrbatta/Hamhuis/Miller.

2. What about Utica? Fighting for a playoff berth, losses it's leading scorer?

3. Benning is still attempting to fill that "age gap" byway of trading valuable future assets?

4. This is not a trade from a position of strength and totally goes against any hope of the "total rebuild" approach as advocated by everybody.

Did Benning confuse Markus with Mikael? Did he forget who was on the Wild and who was on the Flames?

If you believe Shink will be a top 6 winger than we likely lost the trade. If you don't, we likely won. It's not that complicated. We got a slightly older/ NHL ready player for a B prospect who may or may not turn out. I have no idea as I can't see the future but I def. won't cry about losing Shink

i did watch it on a CAM copy with some guy's head popping up about 2/3rd into the movie, but i just took it as part of the effects...

otherwise, i thought the jokes were kind of juvenile potty humour at best. i'd have preferred jokes that weren't so predictable.

I had 1040 on earlier and Taylor said JB was on a conference call to discuss the trade with media and said the goal of the team is to make the playoffs....

That sounds crazy, so I will say it is just the company line. JB must have some other moves in the works because I think I'd rather see Gaunce as a centre in the bottom 6 than Granlund.

I think the fact that they still keep stating this is the reason why the Canucks Fan base gets so worked up about this management group. It just reinforces the notion that they have no idea what they are doing.

In this day in age, like it or not, statistics and analytics are quite prevalent in today's game... and it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to evaluate the statistic of this team to see that making the playoffs is about as close to "dreaming in Techno-Color" as one can get.

If they just admitted to a rebuild; it would make the lives so much easier.

i hope FA isn't pushing JB into making stupid trades to try and make the playoffs this season.

Canucks wont make hte playoffs this year. it's almost impossible and/ or unprecedented.... Nux have like a 1-2% chance at best, and realistically, they have a zero percent chance.

Looks like Benning wants to get older and have more characters in the team. Looks like he's utilizing the fact the Sedins have a few good years left in them. Maybe look at moving Demko for a guy like Pouliot from Edmonton. That would give 3 solid lines. Vancouver's 1st should be able to attract someone like Ladd as well.

Benning is in a hard spot between ownership and the number of fair weather fans Vancouver has. I think he's doing what he can. Whether it's going to be enough to squeak in, who knows?

We have a 4.5% chance of making the playoffs...some of you think Benning is an idiot and is going all in for the playoffs. If that was true, don't you think Linden would veto the transactions?
