I think the fact that they still keep stating this is the reason why the Canucks Fan base gets so worked up about this management group. It just reinforces the notion that they have no idea what they are doing.

In this day in age, like it or not, statistics and analytics are quite prevalent in today's game... and it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to evaluate the statistic of this team to see that making the playoffs is about as close to "dreaming in Techno-Color" as one can get.

If they just admitted to a rebuild; it would make the lives so much easier.

you nailed i think we have a 2% chance of making it but no worries guys because jim benning cant make a bad trade we will win the cup this year..

Looks like Benning wants to get older and have more characters in the team. Looks like he's utilizing the fact the Sedins have a few good years left in them. Maybe look at moving Demko for a guy like Pouliot from Edmonton. That would give 3 solid lines. Vancouver's 1st should be able to attract someone like Ladd as well.

Benning is in a hard spot between ownership and the number of fair weather fans Vancouver has. I think he's doing what he can. Whether it's going to be enough to squeak in, who knows?

It's funny because it might dam well be possible after today!

If you believe Shink will be a top 6 winger than we likely lost the trade. If you don't, we likely won. It's not that complicated. We got a slightly older/ NHL ready player for a B prospect who may or may not turn out. I have no idea as I can't see the future but I def. won't cry about losing Shink
- CanuckDon

It doesn't make sense though. He wasn't a regular player or a prominent one for Calgary. Shinkaruk, whether he is a "JB guy" or not, is one of the leader scorers in the AHL at age 21. There is a lot of value there, but time and time again I just can't bring myself to believe that Benning has any aptitude as a salesman or market evaluator.

Nick Spaling just got a 2nd round pick and I'm not confident that JB gets more than that for good players like Hamhuis or Vrbata.

You don't have to support the trade, but I'm just tired of the complaining, the patience of Canuck fans is that of a 3 year old child and then on top of that you listen to 1040 all day, the amount of negativity is unbelievable. I'm ashamed to be associated with some of you, and that's not a joke.
- A_SteamingLombardi

fans are allowed to complain, since when arent you. if we made this deal for a similar age dman with top 4 potential. i dont think you see complaints... why should fans blindy follow and agree with all of jim bennings moves like a bunch of jack offs. no thanks

I'm speechless... I'll admit, I don't know what the farfegnugen is going on with this trade.... there has to be some inside information that we are unaware of or some advanced stats BS that indicates this Granlund character is the guy...

i thought it was Mikael Granlund too at first, but then i was thinking that guy plays for Minnie so how did that happen..>>

the question I have is how we trade a 1st rounder taken #24 for a guy taken in the 2nd round at #45???

- kaptaan

oh my gosh you guys are really retarded
After a few years after the draft, you think draft position #24 automatically makes your guy more valuable than a #45?
I guess you wouldn't trade Shinkaruk for Johnny Gaudreau cause he was drafted in the 104th overall

Granlund is a year older and has played 86 NHL games and Hunter has played ONE
From what I've seen, we don't even know if this guy can translate his game into the NHL
Granlund's AHL numbers are also better....tell me exactly why everyone's so high on Shinkaruk? Because he was a flashier goal scorer in junior?

Granlund scored 25 as a 20 year old, which at this point is more than Shink. Doesnt mean either will be 30 goal scorers in the NHL. If Granlund was prominent on the Calgary roster, he wouldnt have been available, likewise for Shink. This is a lot over a minor league deal

I get the "whinny" narrative but,

Saying some of us are childish for not appreciating this trade when in the same sentence noting the lack of patience is odd.

Shink was a kid the org was slowly, patiently developing and one in which many got behind when he started to demonstrate his merit in the offensive zone.

I believe this is one of the few instances when you cant play the moral high ground, arrogance card in relation to being a "good fan".

But hey, that's merely my opinion.

Growing our prospects and trading them has been quite annoying, schneider, shink, kassian, hodgson, ect ect

That's the thing.

Shink is a potential sniper/finisher, Granlund a playmaker, though i have no idea who he's going to be passing to?

You don't have to like the trade and everyone is entitled to their opinion. If people are whining without even knowing who Granlund is or doing any research then they should be called out. Just because everybody gets weekly updates on Utica and he is the shiny prospect scoring on the farm doesn't mean he will pan out. I suggest listening to coach Green or folks that follow the Comets. The reviews are mixed

Granlund plays better at Center, still has to work on the faceoffs though.

I like Hunter, but i think this trade will probably end up being a win-win.

Looks like a wait and see deal.

Some kid named Virtanen and Boeser. Despite what Benning said, this trade wasn't about Rodin
