That's the thing.

Shink is a potential sniper/finisher, Granlund a playmaker, though i have no idea who he's going to be passing to?

They can complain, but trying to justify their complaint by using their flawed hockey knowledge

What's your opinion? Do you like the trade?

I understand that you find the complaining annoying but do support this trade or are just tired of hearing complaints?

"He's a 2way player that can play in any situation + up + down in our lineup. He can play LW, he can play centre." - Benning on Granlund

why is being patient such a long drawn out ordeal?

You don't have to like the trade and everyone is entitled to their opinion. If people are whining without even knowing who Granlund is or doing any research then they should be called out. Just because everybody gets weekly updates on Utica and he is the shiny prospect scoring on the farm doesn't mean he will pan out. I suggest listening to coach Green or folks that follow the Comets. The reviews are mixed
- CanuckDon

Oh i have and do.

But lets be realistic here, it's not as though Granlund's development/deployment/play has been all that exceptional either.

We'll know he's doomed if we hear a year of quotes about "Fixing his game along the wall"

I hope not though. I'm optimistic for him. Catching whatever video I can come across of him looks promising. He can get his shot off quick which is good to see because he won't be getting nearly as much space at the pro level.

We have a 4.5% chance of making the playoffs...some of you think Benning is an idiot and is going all in for the playoffs. If that was true, don't you think Linden would veto the transactions? He has final say in all of the trades. He is just saying what he needs to and the less intelligent/ gullible fans gobble it up and start panicking
- CanuckDon

I'm just saying that it pisses me off that every time we hear from Benning or Linden speak, it's "We're pushing to make the playoffs this year."

Since 2011, I think this market in tired of seeing embarrassing first round exits year after year. It's not just enough to make the playoffs anymore, we want to see a team that will be competitive.

10 of shinks 21 goals this year have been on the PP. I think there is some serious concern if he could produce at even strength.

I haven't formed an opinion yet. I want to see how Granlund fits in, if that's even the plan. I think the decision on Hunter was made some time ago.

I'm just tired of the complaining from grocery clerks trying to sound like they know what they're talking about, repeating what they heard on 1040 on their lunch break.

Lots of elite goal scorers score large chunks of their goals on the power play. 15/38 for Ovi, 13/30 for Benn, 14/35 for Kane, 12/25 for Stamkos, 10/23 for Malkin.

Daneil Sedin's best years were boasted by powerplay goal totals.

Elite shooting talents tear up the powerplay. Its not a bad thing to have

I agree with you. I'm just saying there is no chance we can make the playoffs and Benning and Linden know this. I suspect they don't want to tell the media we are tanking because a) it may piss off some fans b) they hate the concept c) it may lower our leverage at the trade deadline.

Not saying I agree with him bull sh!tting the media but I don't care personally. We can make the playoffs unless we win 8 in a row or something which isn't happening

I fully agree give gaunce, grenier anyone the time. Like why bring in another guy who wont make a difference.

Fire him immediately if this is honestly the case cus he should not be running a chapters book store let alone a hockey team if he actually thinks they will make the playoffs and if they do whats the point so they can swept in 4 by the hawks.

Bingo...read reports out of Utica and the kid is great on the PP and dangerous if you get him the puck with space. He doesn't generate offense himself. We can always find pp specialists (already have enough -except for D). Benning wants 5 vs 5 scoring

I can understand the argument that the reviews are mixed.....I was one of the ones on here getting flack for saying Shink isn't an A prospect a week ago.

What I have a hard time understanding, is acquiring a guy who has 2 months left to prove he is an NHLer for a guy with 2 and bit years left to prove he is an NHLer if the argument is that these guys are of equal skill level.

I forgot that the NHL put a roster clause into effect saying that teams can't have too many talented players.

I think trading youth for middling talent is exactly the kind of think the Nucks should be doing. Seems like the perfect strategy, given where they are.

whenever i catch the comets highlights shinks goals are usually power play goals and usually off bad rebounds on the weak side when no one is around him..... just something i've noticed.
