People keep giving Benning scouting credit but consistently call him an idiot for his observations on players.

My first reaction is I don't like this trade... but I will give Benning the benifit of knowing more than us and see what this does to our line up moving forward. We have a log jam of wingers in the system right now... not just centers. Maybe we are moving a center or two at TDL.

If any of Bennings reasons are legitimate and Granlund works out for us... I still am surprised we didnt get a better return for Shink....

Essentially what I've been saying all afternoon. They weren't sold on Shink because he doesn't have a high level shot and they don't believe his game will translate well to the NHL. They know Granlund well and believe he will have a better career.

Why do we need another winger? we dont.. I argue a team looking for scoring wingers would gladly deal a dman prospect for him.. why wouldnt they?

With hindsight, I'd do that deal again 9/10 times.

I had 1040 on earlier and Taylor said JB was on a conference call to discuss the trade with media and said the goal of the team is to make the playoffs....

That sounds crazy, so I will say it is just the company line. JB must have some other moves in the works because I think I'd rather see Gaunce as a centre in the bottom 6 than Granlund.

Couldnt agree more, i was so thrilled when shink was drafted, im just not not happy he was traded for a centerman, even if it was a big package deal could of got D

Twenty three other GMs had their chance to draft him but went a different direction so I believe not a lot was being offered

A Rebuild is a specific direction which is based around the principal of acquiring picks and developing patiently which toronto and Phoenix are doing perfectly.
See you guys know EXACTLY what to expect in the coming year. So it is easy to manage expectations. You guys know for a fact you get the following:
1) More draft picks in the next week
2) a really high draft pick in a few months.
