Apparently with Rodin our forward group is fine That being said i hope our first draft pick is low enough to get Chychrun, and we get a second first and use it to get Fabbro (He is rated between 12-18 now, could even drop further)

And you know that they havent been looking for a D and couldnt get one?

People are always assuming that the GM doent engage in more than one conversation leading up to a trade.

- boonerbuck

I don't think Mike Keenan talked to anyone about the Luongo Bertuzzi trade.

- SMBDragon

Yeah... uhhh... that would never happen. Toronto has good management now..

The Vatanen thing would also be a long shot..

Shink will now be relegated to the package dream scenario's of the past.

He joins a lofty bunch

Ballard
Raymond
Higgens

and the always coveted 2nd.

Would the Ducks trade Shink for Shea Theodore straight up?
Of course not but MG picked Shink 24th when Theodore went 26th.
Shows where our D woes started IMO.
Ask Stevie Y why he passed on Jones n picked Drouin.

With hindsight, I'd do that deal again 9/10 times.
- dbot

lol What about in 5 years when your entire blue line is different? All you have committed long term is Tanev and the Canucks aren't using their high picks on defensemen early in the rebuild.

You have 1 year of hindsight and still refer to the return as a 2nd. Andersson looks like he could run an NHL powerplay one day.

...and the Sutter deal. I know he's been injured but he came as advertised by Benning. Then there was the people who raged about Kassian being dumpoed as a cancer but stfu when he immediately got in the accident and was sent to rehab...

People keep giving Benning scouting credit but consistently call him an idiot for his observations on players.

My first reaction is I don't like this trade... but I will give Benning the benifit of knowing more than us and see what this does to our line up moving forward. We have a log jam of wingers in the system right now... not just centers. Maybe we are moving a center or two at TDL.

If any of Bennings reasons are legitimate and Granlund works out for us... I still am surprised we didnt get a better return for Shink....

- boonerbuck

This is a thought through reasoned post, thanks booner, man the hysteria here is mind boggling at times.

I am over the incicial shock of Hunter's trade. I Think I was more shocked and surprised that, again, we are sold by ownership and Linden/Benning that this was the next guy....

And so it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under our feet.

The more I learn about Granlund, the more I realize that he fits our bill better than Hunter does but has less of an upside --- or at least potential upside. Granlund will play for the Canucks next year.... he has to... he must clear waivers.

But Hunter may or may not play. Maybe they think he is second coming of Theo Fluery but there are reasons that he was passed by when others were getting their call ups.

But this trade will not be known for 5 years who won.

But tonight I trust the Canuck Braintrust less for selling us goods they themselves didn't want.

Unfortunately we don't suck as bad or as often as the Flames to get those high picks.
We have MG to thank for Hutton n Bourdon died tragically.
If i were u i'd put one of ur D in goal n stand a better chance lol

This is where i differ with a few fans on here. I don't place the same value on draft picks that other's seem to.
I see a draft pick as a gamble.

I'm actually on board with JBs pov and i'll take a proven NHL'er over a prospect.

Sometimes you'll get burned, but overall i think you come out on top.
