Not that I've read, some have the canucks a slight advantage, but Dreger and 1040 are probably leading the fire JB,TL campaign. And of course, the super informative all knowing arm chair GM's

Personally I look at the players he has brought in and see little that I'm impressed in at the NHL level but see the players he has drafted and see a bunch that so far has performed better than I expected. I think there is a difference between scouting juniors and pro's.

Obviously time will tell as with all these trades but I struggle to see the point in moving one of our better performing assets for a guy who seems like a depth option at this point. I believe he looked for Defense, but if he couldn't find the deal he wanted why trade a goal scoring prospect for a guy who seems to be another utility player, something we have a lot of?

- belcherbd

I don't have an answer but the question is a bit odd if you don't know what you have in Shink as a NHL player. JB discussed it with Green. JB is a good scout and Green is a good coach who can give the very best input we could possibly as for in Shink... so one might want to ask questions that are more based on what we know without a time travel machine.

I'm more and more questioning the timing of the deal. OK, Shink isnt in the plans and bigger stronger forwards are... fine. I'm on board with this then. Did it have to happen today? Grandlun doesnt seem like a player that you would be supper disappointed in missing if you decided to let Shink up his value in a playoff push therefor contributing to more and better experience in your entire AHL prospect pool. I would have waited til the summer... maybe a better deal at the draft.. maybe not... but the risk of keeping him really isnt there imo. That all changes if there is a TDL strategy involved though.

because were taking a player who needs to clear waivers next year and dealt one on who is 2 years younger with more upside. plus if you are going to deal said player do it for a dman not a guy who cant even crack the flames roster and who plays a position we dont need.

you can keeping drinking the kool aid yourself

- mauryballstein

Ok then you know best, carry on with the sky is falling hysteria, because you feel your better informed, and if a Dman isn't coming back and you don't like it, so it must be wrong attitude

Shinkaruk isn't tall and he's light, he doesn't have an NHL release or a heavy shot, plus he's not a dynamic skater. Obviously their NHL scouts and their AHL coach had input on this.

I like Granlund, he's bigger and heavier plus his development is a year further into it, I just don't see an issue with it...truthfully it's a pretty minor deal and people are freaking out.

Vancouver has some of the worst fans or the most passionate

- LeftCoaster

Good post. Agreed. Ive viewed both players this year. Granlund is years ahead of Shinkaruk in terms of a 200 foot game and he has good speed.

OMG. Has the riot started in Vancouver yet? Has Rogers arena burned down yet?

My god the fricken sky is falling!!

Give this trade some time before freaking out!! Nothing is a guarantee. Shink could blossom into a great player. He could also be a bust.

This was the same reaction when we traded for Baertschi.

I remember a young hockey player who went #1....was a sure bet to be a superstar....Alexandre Daige.....what a bust he turned out to be. Just because you put up great numbers in the AHL does not automatically translate into a successful NHL career

My point is we just don't know. Maybe Granlund might be a better fit here in Vancouver. We just don't know. All I know is that I am not a gm but im sure Benning knows a little bit more than most of us.

Looking forward to TDL

Seriously man, you went right over the edge without even evaluating the overall big picture. You have no idea if it's stupid deal plain and simple, only time will tell with this transaction. Obviously there is some objective insight if you can write that last sentence.

I certainly don't know best, but at my age I know more than to get my knickers in a knot because I disagree with something out of my control.

"We're a playoff team. Our goal is to make the playoffs. These are moves we're making to be the best playoff team we can be"

But I guess management wasn't planning on this team being a playoff team.

if youve noticed it had nothing to do with opinion difference, it had to do with un called for pokes....MUCH like your words above. No bullfrog youre the big baby...you sulk the second youre told off and then troll the person endlessly like youre doing now.

All I tried to do with you is ignore you until I explained to you I wanted to be left alone. Now youre on me every chance you get. Again, I wish to be left alone. Sulk to yourself.
