So, you are advocating to resign him ?

I really hope not, I'm sure they can find someone to give a chance over him.

The LH depth is really starting to get ridiculous as well, they need more righties.

I think Hansen is Burrows 2.0. Burrows was handed a insane contract because of playing with 2 playmaking stars. Hansen is getting points handed to him playing with two great playmaking stars. Sutter has had short spurts of success playing with them too. Anson Carter even had success. I think Hansen's stock is at an all-time high and we should EXPLORE to see what we can get for sure.

just like Vrbata last year, Hansen's TDL value will never be higher than it is right now. Get er done JB!

I agree 100%. I just have a gut feeling he is not going anywhere.

If we can get him cheap for one year don't see it being a problem.

I would not be upset if he didn't get moved though. He gives it every shift and is a pretty quick (albeit awkward) skater. I just think it wouldn't hurt to see what the value is for him from other GM's.

Yes. Same thing about Burrows being versatile can be said for Hansen, got to explore his value and try to cash in while he is still considered a steal of a contract

Hansen should be traded. McIlrath and a second. You can replace JH .
- VANTEL

It would be nice to see Canucks Management actually sell high on one of out players for once. I would imagine that you could probably get way more for Hansen than you could for Vrbata

Cheap like 1.75 that Benning signed him to last year?

Players rarely get a worse contract from the same team that they played with prior.
I would prefer Pedan get the shot before him.

Here is the difference between the Canucks and a team like the blackhawks. Identify your core, pay them well and give them term. Players who are hot, sell high and build through PROPER drafting and making good hockey deals. Trading a rising play like Saad and bringing in good players like Anisimov (a big reason for the success of the Kane-Panarin line) and bringing in a highly talented player in Dano is HUGE. Don't wait for playoffs to drop off. Obviously I don't mean to trade every player every time their stock rises and they are on a streak, but identify who is replaceable and what the return COULD be.

Every time we talk about asset management, Chicago is the best example of trading away good players and replacing them with value contract fillers and prospects that can fill the void in a year or two. They make the tough decisions (like who would've thought to trade Saad??) and keep steady near the top of the league. Even fan and room favourite Sharp was moved to keep the team competitive. Van would never do that

Didn't they move Sharp too? have to rotate the stock (core pieces) at some point, move out the old to make room for the new? and move out the old while they still have value.

Subban has really impressed me this year, and wouldn't be surprised if he earns a call up next year but he still has work to do.

His 8 goals and 20 assists in 43 games is good for 14th overall in scoring in the AHL, 3rd for Rookies.

If you go by points per game he jumps up to 7th overall and 2nd for rookies.

All of this playing 3rd pairing minutes and 2nd pp.

Edit. He is 13th overall in Rookie season including forwards........ I don't think this team has ever had a rookie in the AHL produce at this level let alone a Defenceman.

No other team in the league has a core like Chicago either. They have arguably the best:

All round player - Toews
Offensive player - Kane
Defenceman - Keith

Add in the 2 way play of Hossa and the steadiness of Seabrook, they can afford to trade Sharp and Saad ect.

Asset management is a lot easier when you have a boatload of top end assets

I'm not saying insert him in the top 4 D or not bring players like Pedan up...but there is nothing wrong keeping Bartkowski cheaply just to cover injuries, warm the press box and sit in the 6-7 slot on the D. For another D of roughly the same price we will probably just end up with another Bartkowski.

Since their first cup, they've moved:
Versteeg (twice)
Byfulgien
Laad,
Sharp,
Saad,
Leddy,
Bolland,
Frolik,
Oduya,
Campbell,
Kopecky,
Brouwer.

All varying degrees of success in the deals, but they made them and still continue to win series in the post season

He is more than a face puncher...I could see him being similar to Sbisa with a bigger shot and a better fighter. Lots of similarities between the two
- CanuckDon

Never said he was just a face puncher. I also see him on the 2nd PP unit with that shot of his.

True, but at one point you coulve said the same about the Sedins, Kesler, and Hamhuis, then add in Burrows, Edler, Bieksa or whomever from the past and they could've continued to be competitive for longer

Mcilrath not really loved by nyr fans. he is the slowest player on the team from what i hear. No thanks to him. Id rather deal hansen for a young dman or a 1st.
