Still plenty of time to move Hamhuis and Vrbata. Hamhuis may go this week if he agrees to waive, but I don't see Vrbata moving until guys like Ladd, Stall, and Boedker move. The teams that miss out on those guys might take a flyer on Vrbata. - nucks_94
Someone will take Vrbata for a 2nd i'm guessing. Maybe Pitt or Nashville.
I to as me tioned think trades will break anytime n many teams not wa ting to wait til the TDL. I think Hamhuis will waive n maybe go to the Hawks or hopefully packaged for Drouin. Dallas also could be a great fit. |

Benning has "identified" some young defenceman he covets. Rival GM's are at loathe to part with them. A talented former first round pick wasn't enough to do it. That leaves you in a tough spot to upgrade at that postiton as it stands right now. I wouldn't expect that to change at the TDL. |

Veys days r numbered. He's too slow n doesn't win many puck battles although he has shown more effort. Granlund is his replacement. |

I like this deal better after having read that post from CanuckDon about the guy from Finland who wrote something about Granlund.
Anyways... I like what someone else wrote about JB filling the team up with good two way players... that makes some sense. But i guess JB doesn't want to give up the goods publicly on his strategy to make the team a solid two way playing team in the mold of the broons.
definately feel better about the team going forward if that in fact is the strategy. that being the case, Hansen doesnt go anywhere.
if nick spaling got a 2nd, vrbata should get a 2nd plus...
if polak got a second, hamhuis should net two 2nds and a 3rd...
get a lot of guys who can play both ends and have a 2-3 skilled guys to complement them (aka krejci...). |

now that I have had time to digest the trade, and read up on what sources are saying around the league, this may not be as bad as what people think. The PPG in the AHL is a one-up for Granlund as stats don't lie. The word from scouts across the league and the articles I have read is that Shinkaruk is a complete perimeter player, that is extremely weak on the puck, weak on the back-check, and struggles to play defensively. His goal totals this year have been mainly because of his time on the PP1 and all the offensive zone starts his line gets. While goal scoring is clearly what the Canucks need now, and shipping a leading goal scorer on the farm seems counter-productive, this move is not so lop-sided. Granlund brings a 200 foot game, physicality, and is proven in the NHL. He battles hard on the puck and is trusted in all situations. Could we have said that for Hunter? Maybe we didn't give him a fair look and I would have to agree with that, but he is a undersized forward, with mediocre skating, with a less than impressive shot than Gaunce+Boeser+Virtanen+McCann+Horvat. Can you guys start to see the reasoning behind this? Benning would not ship this trade if he did not have the right information from Green, the pro-scouts, management, etc. Lets wait 2 years and see what happens and see how this plays out. I think alot of you, like me, have a hard time digesting a 1st round pick dealt from the last few years, but if he is as Perimeter as they say, than maybe this won't be as bad as you think..
Either way Canuck fans, I think we all need to take a breathe and calm down. |

I think it is. Or Benning just believes we have another Baertchi in Granlund. Granlunds AHL PPG were better than Shinks and if Granlund has the two way game JB wants then there it is...

Shink was not better than Sven and Danny is here two more years. Where would Shink play - VANTEL
Boeser should be here for the 2017-2018 season. Real deal. Pure goal scorer. Shinkaruk was never going to see top 6. As much as it pains me.
I'd rather have had him come up and play the last 7 games or so. Then move him at draft. Something else must be up. Trader Jim has other plans.
I've never seen a GM create so much angst and so on, from Van fans (including myself). Every trade he makes, people lose their mind. Now, lets be honest. Alot of those trades have worked out. Not every trade, but alot. Kesler is a good player but nearing the end. Would you wanna pay him what he is due to make, starting next year and beyond? Where is Bonino? How many goals does Garrison get? Bieksa, sadly it was time. Lack, we all wanted more of a return, but lets be honest we kept the better in Markstrom. Kassian had to go. MTL dumped him for Scrivens.
Lets give JB time on this one. Let's see what happens come Monday. If Hamhuis doesn't fetch a propsect/player he better get a 1st.
For TML to get 2 2nds for a bottom pair dman (serviceable) and a fringe 4th liner, is beyond me! I love to hate the Leafs. But you can't argue how well they have managed this rebuild thus far. props. |

Dont know if this hasnt been brought up yet or not.
Its clear JB never like shink. So if he isnt in the future plans thats fine but why didnt we deal him for sven instead of that 2nd round pick.
I would be much happier with Rasmus Andersson instead of Granlund. |

That's sweet of him. Did he point out that Granlund has 6pts in 7 AHL playoff games while shink had 7pts in 23 playoff games?

Wow, I'm so glad I worked all day yesterday and fell asleep before I tried to read all 40+ pages of angst, teenage Twilight drama and Deadpool fouth wall breaks.
Here's my opinion on the deal, not that anyone cares:
- Shink had no place on the team next year or beyond, he was behind Daniel and Sven in the top 6 and for him to succeed, he'd need to be top-6 because otherwise he doesn't have the game to be in the bottom six and be a regular contributor.
- Granlund is the better player, he can slot into the bottom six at center or wing, his faceoff percentage is better than Vey or Cracknel (mind you that's AHL numbers) and has better number with less games in the AHL.
- With Sutter out, Hank clearly playing hurt and Vey day-to-day, we were getting very thin on NHL-capable centers. The plan has always been to manage McCann's minutes and games so that he doesn't get himself injured thanks to his slight frame that continues to lose weight and needs to be built up and maintained.
- Shink was not a JB pick, and more than that, it was clear he had tried to trade Shink since the draft but had no takers.
- As people have also posted, Shink's numbers look good because he was on Utica's PP1 and got all the O-zone starts, which tells me that Green was showcasing him just for this situation.
- The plan moving forwards has always been the same, slowly move out veteran players who aren't contributing and move in rookies and younger players who can. Nothing has changed in that regard. Moving Shink doesn't change that, he wasn't in the Canucks plans heading forwards, therefore JB got the best deal he could and moved on.
- In regards to TML moving Matthias, Polak, let's not forget that the 2nds are NOT this years 2nds, they're next year's and the year after in drafts where you have no clue who's going to be available or where SJ is going to end up in the standings. Sure, it's great that they got something for their trash, but until those drafts come and we get an idea of how deep those drafts are, why do we even care? Not to mention that the players picked with those picks likely won't play on the Leafs for 4-5 years later. |

How is engaging you on you're point about changing the coach trolling you? You make a big long speach about how Willie d has to be fired. I asked you to answer a simple question about how you expect management to do that....when it would require them to pay for three head coaches at one time. You never even attempt to discuss the point....which you bring up, in a public forum. The. Spend the rest of the night spewing hate and causing poop. I asked you one simple, non offensive question about you're post...and you carry on like a spoiled child for two days. Who's trolling who? I wanted to talk the point out with you, but you're too big a (frank)ing baby to defend you're points. Keep cryin dude...keep cryin. I'm here to talk hockey not listen to you're bullpoop. - Bullfrog77
get a grip....I told you before to leave me alone. tired of your crap.....months ago. Then again the other day. How is telling you to F8ck off and leave me alone bothering you or carrying on? Christ dude you dont get anything on any level.
The only one crying or acting like a child is you.....cause I told you off now you troll me constantly ever since. Just leave it alone for christs sake |
