Drouin is going to be a bust. Kid has attitude problems. I really hope they don't trade a good kid in McCann for a problem child.

You can give them props for the fact they have publicly stated a plan. They continue to work towards it. They are doing all the right things by trading expiring contracts for picks so even if they turn to nothing they are still trying, fans can get behind that.

They are also using their cap space to bring on toxic contracts and move some long term ones out so that they have flexibility.

They are 100% moving in the right direction. Where as the Canucks dont appear to have a direction. To me they are trying to speed things up by making questionable deals instead of following the leafs direction. This is a critical year, if we make the right moves we can speed things up by a year. Or we can keep making moves like this that we only delay the day at which we are competitive again.

This is what I am confused about, what is JB looking for?

I guess if it was easy to make trades, we would see them all the time, but after last season, following the playoff exit, I would have expected JB to target grit and help on defense, just as much as a player like Drouin. Assuming Prust was brought in for grit and Bartkowski as the help on defense, neither has really helped alot, and maybe that is not JB's fault with the injuries the club has had this season.

i think he was treated poorly by the lightning organization. i think the guy would come here with a chip on his shoulder, ready to prove all the naysayers wrong.

i think the guy would be a legit top line winger for years to come. maybe even win the calder.

Personally though, I hope the leafs continue to move at the same pace they've been moving at over the last decade. From my perspective, they've been on the right track in that time. More of the same would be really great.
