Report on Granlund is pretty good. He had more points in AHL than shink and of course is a year or more ahead of him development wise. Thinks point to it being a good trade for us.
Its been speculated that Vey may be done here and HAS been a healthy scratch as well. Could take his spot.

Its also been reported yesterday that TB may want Granlund for Drouin. Im not too onboard with that but Im also unfamiliar with his game, so maybe its worth it?

One of the big negatives with Granlund is requiring waivers to be sent to AHL next season. that was the same when we acquired Clendening. Acquiring players that couldn't crack another team's roster full time... same with Vey too.

There has to be more moves coming. Still don't like the idea of acquiring a player that can play anywhere in the lineup but isn't really a great fit for the top or bottom 6. Maybe JB thinks he can be effective on the 3rd line, but the move really doesn't address our lack of grit. Doesn't make us any harder to play against.

All these so called Canuck fans threatening to cheer for other teams, DO IT. Why cheer for this team if everything they do gets you so worked up. Go cheer for your second choice. Anyone who has a second choice of teams isn't a real fan.

Spare us all your 12 year old girl tactics.

I miss when Howe played for the Whalers, loved the logo too.

Shink was not making us any harder to play against either, and you are assuming Granlund will be sent to the AHL next year.

Drouin is going to be a bust. Kid has attitude problems. I really hope they don't trade a good kid in McCann for a problem child.

100% agree... At the moment.

There's a decent chance that any team that ends up with Drouin could EVENTUALLY be happy that they acquired him, but right now the kid seems like a bit of a self-entitled parasite. Does any team need that, ever? No, and especially not rebuilding teams.

Tough call, but the assets needed to make a deal for Drouin appear too steep at the moment and is ultimately somewhat of a turn-off.

Shink was weak and doesnt attempt physical play. Glanlund from what Ive been told by a few different people is hes more physical. Not like hes a threatening figure just that hes still physical, which apparently shink would never become. Shink was smaller as well. Pretty sure we came out on top.

You are right, Shink didn't make us any harder to play against. Maybe the issue with Shink is he is top 6 or bust where as Granlund is supposedly more versatile.

Not assuming anything, just trying to point out that he will require waivers if he doesn't fit into the lineup on a full time basis. he could also be stuck in the press box like Corrado or Tinordi were this year for their respective teams.

As I mentioned, I hope the move is in preparation for more moves at tdl or in the summer.

Didn't like the notion, heard it mentioned on the radio, that Granlund was acquired for centre ice depth for the rest of the season... unless the club plans on sitting Hank and Sutter isn't returning.

Maybe all this is just moot though if Shink had fallen so far out of favour, or JB just couldn't see where he would fit with the club and wasn't going to be given a chance anyway.

while this is true, remember he seems to have a poop disturbing agent too. So while he may become a good player some day could we see him overvaluing himself and wanting 10M in like 3 years and holding out w stupid contract demands? YES, totally. Is THAT worth it?? I doubt it.

Hillbilly, perhaps we should wait till after the TDL to see if hes even still here 1st. Once we know what the set roster is after trades it will be time to debate futures etc. Till then im waiting.
