I'm a Leaf fan and have no issue whatsoever with what Buffalo did last year.

In trading away every morsel of talent with an expiring contract in the year of Auston, it's not tanking, it's "maximizing assets." It's kinda like the US government saying "it's not torture, it's enhanced interrogation techniques."

I think you missed the entire point of this write up. He was comparing the Sabres last year to the Leafs this year. Saying that the Canadian media bashed the Sabres for the same thing the Leafs are doing right now but the Canadian media looks the other way when the Leafs are doing it. I really wouldn't call that jealousy.

I like what Buffalo has done, and am hoping we look similar in a couple of seasons.

Leafs management clearly did not intend to be competitive this season, but the "talent" that you suggest the Leafs are trading away are 3rd/4th line forwards and 3rd pairing D.

Please elaborate. .... tell me all the good players we traded away. Myers was the only solid player with term and while convenient Kane was hurt, you have to give to get. Both tenders were UFAs="maximizing assets" just like the Leafs.
