Have you met Cody Hodgson?
I kid, I kid.
Had he rebounded nicely this season I'd wonder, but he didn't. So somehow he went from scoring 20 goals on a pretty poor team, to being irrelevant on that same really poor team, to not doing well on a team that's in a playoff position. It's gotta be a mental thing. - HonkFortheGoose
I actually edited my original post mentioning Nolan and neuvirth before I saw this
I can't say I know much about Cody, but my guess is Totally a mental thing.
How did yaks go from leading rooks in goals and points to this totally ineffective nhl'er with dynamic talent ? Fukin mystery. I'm even started to think maybe it was a rookie fluke. The guy is lost. He needs a change |

Buffalo traded away anything that had a pulse and another Gm was willing to trade for. The Leafs purposely signed free agents on one year contracts to trade them for picks and or prospects, in effect buying draft choices.
This blog is a week early. It would only make sense if Toronto traded away JVR,Kadri,Garner etc . What Buffalo did last year is why the league changed the rules for the lottery.
You were guaranteed McDavid/Eichel. We have no guarantee of a first overall, 2nd etc. Best is a 4th rounder. Are we rebuilding ..yes, without question. But not the way Buffalo did it. - sparky
Draft lottery was changed prior to the 2014-15 season get your facts straight. Odds were lowered to win the lottery for 2014-15 and this season guarentee of second was taken away as well. Sabres and Coyotes were smart to tank as the leafs are smart to tank now. Leafs started tanking 3 months too late tho and got Marner instead of Jack. |

If management was paying the guys under the table to play poorly last year, Weber and Gorges must have been left out, because the two of them HATED how things went last year. - HonkFortheGoose

My goodness, this entire "blog" you posted defines butthurt.
"Buffalo did exactly what the Maple Leafs are doing now--maximizing assets--and they ended up with a team full of AHL players--much like the Leafs will be doing for the remainder of this season after they purge all their NHL talent. And the Sabres were raked over the coals for it."
The Sabres weren't trying to compete from the get-go; they tanked from October onward. Toronto stayed semi-competitive until January. They were 5-6 points back of a playoff spot. Any savvy fan knew that Toronto wasn't going to make the playoffs with their roster from October, but at least they kept it close. Barffalo didn't even try to hide that they were tanking... then all of your idiot Sabres fans yelled and whined and stomped when you had to "settle" for Eichel. Couldn't be happier that Edmonton won the lottery in that regard, just to piss all you butthurt babies off. - Conquest we love eichel... so jokes on you lol. The whole point of finishing last was to lock in mciechel. We created the name. It became a nationwide nickname for the two players. We weren't pissed we lost out on McDavid. We were pissed the Oilers won the lottery AGAIN. The leafs are a year late with the blow up rebuild. There is no lock on to 3. I'll be lmao'ing when you guys draft 4th and miss out on Matthews and the fins.
You guys traded Kessel before the season started. Everyone besides maybe the Homer Toronto fans saw what they were doing. Tanking.

We came in last place the prior year, and knew we we're going to stink again. So what.
You want a pat on the back because you tried through December? Frank off.
You guys tanked a year too late. You think Marner, Nylander and whatever you get in the draft this year are enough to build on, that's great. Most here like our position better, so if you had any sense, it'd be you who is butthurt. You're too dumb to realize we tanked better than you.
Cant wait to see who Kadri fetches....Maybe John Scott and a couple more picks. Then Scott and Torres can fill seats at Marlies games. |

Whether or not I announce my intentions before killing someone, if I do it I am still a murderer. Am I honorable if I don't spill the beans beforehand?
Remember, we finished last the year before last...it is no secret TM saw the writing on the wall of a second sucky season. Leafs are jettisoning their good players, not all of which are ufas . Tank the fudge on, Leafs. - LandlordTom

Miracle is a huge stretch. Some Teams surprise every year. Same as some teams disappoint every year. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary. You can almost bet on those occurring actually.
Doan's enjoying a comeback year. Domi and duclair are providing some pure offensive punch they lacked. Hanzal being healthy is a big one. And domingue has been great in goal. Any number of reasons are extremely plausible
They didn't pay their players to throw games. Pretty ridiculous assertion really |

I'm sorry I'm having a hard time believing we both saw how that team performed last year that was a tire fire AHL team and now all the sudden they're better than both of us hardly believable and we both have star players they absolutely did nothing |

The funny thing is that for the last 80% of the year last year the Leafs were actually a worse team than we were. If the rumors are true before last season Shanny tried to convince management that they needed to tank but they didn't agree until 20 games in. That decision killed them. |

Ha you have no idea what crazy is....
but that being said if you want to say they are better than us i won't completely disagree but im only saying marginally at best, and while most of us agree the sabres are and will continue to go up, without major changes the yotes are staying pat |
