You are completely missing out on my point, but ok.
I have no problem with your tank job and you guys have a bright future. But to start putting down the Leaf's tank job compared to yours is just stupid when you missed out on the one guy your GM had a hard-on for.
Again, I like what the Sabres did and they have a great amount of talent. But don't go putting down others when you didn't even come in first place. If the Leafs get effed and end up with the 4th pick, I can guarantee you I won't stick that in someone's face as proof we tanked well.
And let's be real - the tank job is only good if the result is good, i.e. winning a Cup or at least being a consistent contender. - charlieb83
I don't think anyone is pissing on what Tonto is doing. It's the whole .."at least Toronto is doing it with dignity unlike Buffalo" attitude. |

Weber move sounds like more to come. Just Weber for a 3rd and we retain 1/2 his salary makes no sense unless it is part of a bigger picture deal |

We're happy with Eichel, Reinhart and Risto on the back end and we'll see what goodies we'll get this year.
You guys lost out on McDavid and Eichel. The little guy you got will be a nice player. - GilPerreault11

What is this whole Sabres fans are jealous because we're rich garbage? You do know our owner is a multibillionaire right? The same guy who prevented Toronto from taking our football team by buying them for 1.4 billion.
P.S. and the word is envious not jealous, there's a difference. - sskkoo1
I wasn't referring to wealth of owners at all, just interpreting what the author wrote, such as "The difference is that the Sabres are the grubby little street urchins of the league while Toronto has the dual demi-gods of Lamariello and head coach Mike Babcock perched high upon their thrones on Mount Maple Leaf. In no way shape or form would the self described Center of the Hockey Universe stoop to the level of Buffalo and somehow the Leafs' dive to the bottom of the league is beyond reproach in this, the year of Matthews." |

Why? LOL it is MIKE WEBER! If we got a 3rd and retained his full salary it would have still been a good deal! |

TM hates losing assets to FA. He might have some of them back for all we know. But currency is currency, and hopefully he spends some of the picks he trades for for actual players. |

well, we can afford to keep paying 1/2 his salary for 30 more games and we got a pick vs. letting him go for free at the end of the season.
I think as far as Weber goes, that's about all you get.
When it comes to other UFA's, I completely agree with you that we're probably not done.

I know and understand that. But the comments being made by the author about the Leafs just because of what the media says is the issue. "...while Toronto has the dual demi-gods of Lamariello and head coach Mike Babcock perched high upon their thrones on Mount Maple Leaf." Sounds generally degrading to me and all based on our crappy media. |

Sabres were able to push that pick up to a 3rd rounder by being willing to retain half of Weber's salary. Decent return |

It's a good trade on our end, and I hope it works out for Mike and Washington too.
Right now it seems like the market is being set at a little on the high side. Hopefully, Murray doesn't stop now, get the rest of the UFA's moved before other G.M. start to panic and we're left holding onto players. If Weber got us a 3rd, Johnson will too. |

There have been a lot of Leaf posters here today that said the same thing about the Toronto media. That they are a joke and should not be taken seriously.
The funny thing is, the guys at the Buffalo News that were anti tank and said it was embarrassing are guys who everyone here says is a joke as well.
So maybe we should actually listen to that Leaf posters perspective. |

Do you think the Sabres pay that salary or is it a wink wink, nudge nudge type where it loks like we pay it on the cap but Washington pays it |

Also, with the addition of D Mike Weber the Caps are at the NHL limit of 50 players under contract. Must subtract to add. #CapitalsTalk

Moulson = NTC
Gionta = NTC
Franson = injured, so? who knows?
Legwand = do him a favor and give him one more kick at the can.
We do need SOME veteran leadership going in to next year.
Im sure that can always be acquired in any number of ways in the offseason.
But I don't see Moulson or Gionta going anywhere outside of a miracle happening. |
