Do you think the Sabres pay that salary or is it a wink wink, nudge nudge type where it loks like we pay it on the cap but Washington pays it - ImThatGuy
Well, I read the language when the new CBA came out...but if half the cap is traded, so is half of the remaining salary. It's a pretty bad thing if they get caught winking or nudging. |

Also, with the addition of D Mike Weber the Caps are at the NHL limit of 50 players under contract. Must subtract to add. #CapitalsTalk

Cue the Capitals trading away an under performing prospect in the AHL for a late round pick.
Whose next for the Sabres? |

Moulson = NTC
Gionta = NTC
Franson = injured, so? who knows?
Legwand = do him a favor and give him one more kick at the can.
We do need SOME veteran leadership going in to next year.
Im sure that can always be acquired in any number of ways in the offseason.
But I don't see Moulson or Gionta going anywhere outside of a miracle happening. - seedy
Speaking of Moulson, what happened to the guy? He was dynamite on the Island. Same question about Vanek. |

Yes, but still insults the fans with offers of selling a bridge or swampland. We are usually victims of the media here as well. - charlieb83
Well, if you BELIEVE that Toronto is tanking admirably but Buffalo's tank was shameful, I think the bridge/swampland comment is spot on.
It seems like you agree that Toronto is following a similar path to Buffalo and it doesn't bother you, so it's really not an issue, correct?

All anyone can ask of a man is that he recognize when and how he can lend his skills in furtherance of a common goal. Mike Weber always put forth his best, he never demanded a bigger role than he deserved, and he worked as diligently as any other member of this franchise to make it the best it could be.
He was a good soldier, and a guy I would take in my foxhole in any battle, any time.
Thanks for the work, Webby, and good luck in DC. |

Surely you must sense the frustration that we had to go through, and despite this blog written for the fans of our team, I don't see it as an insult to other fans as much as it bringing forth the morally questionable opinions of the media in the Toronto and other Canadian markets.
I will say, as I followed along the past two years, accusations of tanking (not rebuilding properly) were thrown our way almost daily, like we were being spit on because our GM knew that our team was mediocre at best before the tear down. We all know how necessary a rebuild is in the salary cap era, and when you're battling mediocrity for so damn long, it's time for a change, even if that change is about to damage your pride. Now the Leaf's fans should know how it feels.
There's no need for accusations, insults and belittling a team and their fan base because of their desire to win in the long run. It's shameful and the Toronto media has mastered it by calling out the team across the pond and not looking in he mirror. |

But Bucky, Sully, and Harrington all said the same thing. And we didn't care.
We wanted to finish last. Who cares what anyone else said? We got what we wanted. |

Kaiser, fyi...me and the wife are on the wagon, prolly for good. Been a week. The motivation is mainly financial, but there was an episode involving something important getting flushed down the toilet, and me having to remove said toilet to get said item back....sobriety is nice but I feel kinda squirrelly.
My keyboard may have some irrational things to say for a while. Hopefully its entertaining for you guys. - LandlordTom
At different times in my life, I've gone dry for more than 8 years on 2 separate occasions getting my head straight when I recognized it had gotten sideways. Now, I talk a bigger game than I play, but I don't mind getting a little carried away sitting in my favorite chair on the weekend.
Best to you and Mrs.
Get through bedtime tonight, and start over again tomorrow. |

Got to admit, he just got traded to his best opportunity to earn himself some hardware, even if he gets scratched here and there. I definitely like Murray's style when it comes to this. I'm sure if Edmonton offered more, he would have went to Edmonton, but it seems like he at least gives some guys a shot to be on decent teams for the rest of the season. |

Insulted? That's exactly how the blog writer feels about the noble tank notion hypocrisy, thusly leading to the blog we are all talking aboot.
Folks gotta chill on both sides of the border, eh.

off topic but:
Why is it every time I open a box of girl scout cookies, next thing I know I look down and there are only 2-3 left?
Box of Tagalongs today, gone.
Is this a problem for everyone? - ImThatGuy

As far as Moulson goes, nobody knows. I think the idea was for him to play wing with Eichel and revisit his glory days with Tavares, but that didn't work out.
Vanek will quietly pot 20/40-ish in Minnesota.
If they expect him to be a first line winger when he really never achieved being one in the first place, it's their own fault.
Sounds like Pommenville is actually a bigger problem for them.
