I don't think Eberle would fetch anything more than pysyk and girgensons as a package. - Mentalorgasm5
They have a surplus of centers, not wing. That might get Nuge but we don't need a center. |

If he were to sign here, than the blog would be flooded by Leaf fans laughing at the Sabres for paying him as much as he would require. |

Even so, aren't injured players allowed to be traded? Like he might not be healthy by deadline day but maybe a week after it? - Sabresfan-365
You really ask this after the Kane trade? |

I could see a lot of people wanting to play in Buffalo, but realistically can also see it taking another year or two before it's realistic to see quality players make that choice over so many other places.
And this isn't being said to have people list examples of others who have - none that have were former 50 goal scorers. - stashu
I agree. He could want to play here here for 12 mil, or Tampa for 10. Lots of things would have to go our way. |

He can likely be packaged with another asset to address the defense more comprehensively, though. Or they keep him which affords them the luxury of trading a Nuge instead. Or they keep him and maintain status quo while overpaying Jason Demers in the offseason...

Over/under 4 and a half minutes for this site to crash if Stamkos signs in Toronto or Buffalo? |

Of course we have a shot, we have a poop ton of money, an owner willing to spend it, and the Beady Eyed Douche who will do anything it takes to get it done. When do they announce the cap for next year? Is it at the draft? I can't remember if it was before free agency started last year. I remember it was close, because I was reading articles about how the NHL needs to tell the teams soon so they know how much they can spend. |

I still think he's going to demand a contract higher than Toews/Kane. It's been 2 years since those contracts were signed (when FA starts), so a top Free Agent like him is going to get that at a minimum (barring re-signing in Tampa) |

Maybe. But those teams could offer more money than other desirable teams that could not fit a contract into their cap and future considerations. - rmiethaner
Could they?
They'd be so bad that no one would go to the games
U gonna pay to see a team that has a guy that should be a 3rd line center playing on the top line
And we female dog about guys being overpaid now...
Just imagine
I think it's a horrible idea |

I imagine KNOWING a guy is hurt is ok, but trades and someone failing a physical is where things would get blurry/voidable.
Hell, not only Kane, but the Clarkson/Horton trade too, plus Pronger got traded...ugh. |

Perhaps stamkos saw the home locker room, and said "screw it, I'm signing in buffalo." |

It is.
I like Yost, but that is just the worst idea.
The only way to get better is through the draft, and the best guys are at the top of the draft. |

Those questions would certainly have to be answered...
But idk if it would be the worst thing to keep Reinhart on the wing, he seems comfortable there
And maybe moving Eichel isn't a big deal. Let him play LW & tee up that shot of his like Ovechkin.
Not that it's an easy fix...
But if Stamkos wants to come here at a reasonable salary, then I'd do it
He's that good
And he really showed me something early in the playoffs with the way he made his presence felt even though he wasn't scoring.
Then he switched to the wing.
He's even switched to the wing again this year.
Supposedly he doesn't like that...
But he hasn't pouted, or caused trouble in the locker room, or tweeted about it...
He's a true pro
I'd take him here in a heartbeat
Jack & Sam seem to be kids with their heads on straight too, so I wouldn't worry about how they'd react

Eichel and Sam will know they have a chance to win and play with an elite player in the league. They both will benefit from having them around. It's the Sabres job to worry about the financial decisions to keep everyone happy and around

I think Reinhart on the wing is where he'll end up being in the NHL. Especially if he keeps up the net front presence aspect of his game.
I still say Eichel would be wasted on the wing. A guy who can skate and pass like he can needs the whole ice, not just ⅓ of it. And in Disco Dan's rigid system he can't float around on the wing. |

I agree with the Eichel part. If sTankos comes here then we are not going to afford much upgrade to our D going forward, unless some serious celery is gone soon.

By the time they have to worry about eichel, for the most part, those bad contacts are gone. |
