To be fair, I don't think Eklund is implying that one of those teams is playoff bound, rather he was just pointing out that were he to sign by Monday he would be eligible.
From there I was stating my own wonderings. - Scoob
I think Ek, in his haste to get stuff out there doesnt stop to self-edit, and in the process frequently implies things that he does not intend.
I was under the impression though that should Kovalchuk come back into the league, that Jersey retained his rights. |

They might get better offers when he has less term left, assuming he doesn't slow down. - Feanor
Yeah I understand that...that was my main knock on the Flyers trading him when they did. What I mean is that now, at this point, they have a certain amount of players at a young age, who could develop and help at the same time. That combined with the risk of his play suddenly dropping off is why I think they could just send him away |

From http://www.allaboutthejer...-new-jersey-should-say-no
There are only three ways for him to return:
1. All thirty teams would grant permission to return to the NHL. He would be a free agent.
2. Kovalchuk can sit out a year and not play hockey anywhere. After then, only the Devils need to grant his permission to return to the NHL. He would be a free agent.
3. Kovalchuk would wait until he's 35. At that point, he's free to come back without any permission. That would be the 2018-19 season, or two years after the speculated season he's considering leaving the KHL. |

Everyone knows the Flyers were simply unable to score early this season. Well how about lately?

Fair point. Top 8 in the NHL since January 1. You'd think it would equate to better than an 11-8-4 record. So while the scoring is up, the average play has continued. |

Been chasing a slew of rumors, but I was just told by a very reliable source that Ilya Kovalchuk may be leaving Russia and signing with an NHL team before Monday's traded deadline which would make him eligible for the post season...
The source contacted me just as news broke in Russia that Kovalchuk will NOT play Games 3 or 4 in his playoff series versus Lokomotiv fro SKA and has been stripped of his captaincy.
The two teams Kovalchuk would most likely be signing with are NJ and Toronto from all indications.
If he wants to play in the playoffs why would he go to those teams? - Scoob
so they could trade him for assets to a contender?

I think Kovalchuk is a jackass. Was still one of the elite snipers, and could've been a HoFer.
Supposedly he got into it with his assistant coach. Does anyone remember during the Olympics where he was captain of Russia, lost, and then led the players off the ice before the national anthem? Ovi and Malkin stayed and were pissed at their teammates, urging them to stay. |

Maybe they should of.
But look now with all the cap questions for next year. Lots of people stated we should have held onto him until this year and tried to move him.
Maybe Hextall was smart to get out in front of it before the cap didn't go where people thought. - J35Bacher
What exactly do you think the Hartnell trade did for the cap situation? |

You don't really get OT in most finance companies. You're just kind of expected to work 7-8AM through 8-10PM most nights. Bonuses are usually pretty high though. In NYC, you might get a base of 65-75K but then a bonus of 15-25K. Philly is obviously not as high but much more sustainable life around here than NYC. |

So you don't come on here for 5 years and now two days back your asking people on a Flyers thread about finance companies and life decisions.
You may want to rethink your return here and how it may impact your life. |
